UPDATED: FEB 19, 2015 Had at the brewpub. Although I enjoyed this beer it was a bit thin compared to some other dubbels. Didn’t have the spicy warmness of flavor that some dubbels have. Almost a bit too tart? Serving: Tap

Taste: semi spice bread, slight sweet malt, with some alcohol bite. Same with the nose. Copper hue, clear, with small head and some ring lattice on taster glass. Medium body.

Draught. Pours a murky amber brown with a quickly fading light beige bubbly head. Aroma is of clove, spice, slightly metallic. Taste is of cinnamon, clove, toffee, metallic finish. Watery to oily mouthfeel, medium carbonation.

On draft at the brewery. Medium dark amber pour, somewhat cloudy, with an off white head. Fruity, sweet, caramel, brown sugar, Belgian yeast, dark fruit, some phenolics, and despite all the sweetness it feels a bit light and watery. Ok.

On draft at Haymarket Pub and Brewery in Chicago. Pours a cloudy copper with an off white head. Banana nose. Flavors of grass and butterscotch. Smooth clean finish.

Tap at the brewery - hazy amber - decently done for the style - a lot of earthy, dusty basement yeast qualities add a fair amount of depth - some fruity easters and clove and pepper phenols - all kept in decent balance - malt character is a little lacking - some dark fruit, but overall a little flabby - decent otherwise.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark reddish brown pour with off white head, aroma brought big caramel, toffee, slight dark fruit, hints of earth, spice into a bit of slight banana in there, touch of nutty notes. Taste was a mix of sweet dark fruit, caramel, toffee, some spicy clove, touch of banana into a bit of nuts, finishing sweet.
