TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich clear straw hue, gentle golden elements, yellow fire with a frothy bright white moderate head. Laces well, sticks around as a decent layer. Aromas are gentle bready malts, cereal grains, touches of straw, grass, and mellow dry earthy hops. Grass, earth, faint floral element. Initial is light bodied, clean, some dry bitterness hits quickly gentle spicy yeast, mellow spice, dry earthy hops, grass, florals. Middle shows a touch of cereal sweetness, remaining spicy, a faint waft of citrus, mellow spicy hops linger on. Backend offers dryness, crisp grains, mellow hops linger on giving some jabs of spice, dry earthy hops. Clean, crisp, refreshing. Some touches of sun tan lotion, mellow sweetness really gets drowned out by mellow yeast, a good firm (for the style) spicy earthy hopping, and some crisp cereal dry grains. Nice summer indulgence and sessioner. More fruit in the nose than the beer itself. Solid sessioner that I probably enjoy more than Speakerwagon nowadays..
