650ml bomber pours a dirty dark brown color with a finger of white head that leaves a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is mild smoke and roasted grains. Taste is malty sweet with the smokiness and a light hoppy bitterness. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. Very clear, coppery brown, red highlights, sandy colored head. Bready malt, a bit toasty, lightly sweet and smoky landjaeger in the nose. Not overly bitter, of course, but some earthy hops show up in the finish.
Light medium body, creamy carb, and a nicely subtle smokiness in the finish.
The smoke is well-balanced; and there is, thankfully, no trace of ’band-aid’ as can show up in many examples of the style. Another super solid lager from one of my favorite breweries.

Bottle from brewolf...thanks Michael! - Pours clear copper with a nice off white head. Nice smooth smokiness, jerky, and a light bready maltiness. Taste is exactly the same, really smooth. Not too sweet and not overpowering, which can be an issue with smoked beers. Light body, with smooth carbonation. This can compete with Schlenkerla. Bottle:   Dirty amber, a little dark, fairly hazy, moderate to large pancake batter like foam, sand
colored, spotty lacing.   Soft smoked malt nose.   Thankfully its not too meaty or band-aid like.   Soft
smokey malts right up front.   Very smooth and clean.   Those that like Smoked beers may not like this in that
its not that big. I on the other hand, really enjoy this as its not an ashtray, smoked meat, or a two week old
smelling band-aid.   It could stand to be a bit heavier.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   By the
finish the smoke aspect has become really subdued.   In my opinion, this would make a great entry into the style

Gorgeous deep orange, late day sun color with a thick,creme brulee covering. Artfully integrated smooth smokines entagled with toasted malts in the bouquet. Very approachable for a smoked beer and straddls the oktoberfest/smoked line well. The body is reshing, with malts mostly generic, but supplying a bit of graininess character of which the smoky palate trickles nicely over. Smoky Bob looks like your typical Oktoberfest/Märzen, with its crystal clarity, beautiful copper/amber color, and a thin, white head. On a first whiff, you don’t get that typical sweet smell you’d expect from this prototypical Bavarian style; you just get a ton of bacon. Lots of bacon.
Seriously, I can’t get past the bacon smell on this. Not just any bacon, it’s like a maple smoked bacon with lots of brown sugar, and maybe a side of maple syrup to dip it in. Some smoked beers do have a slightly meaty quality, but this is like none I’ve ever experienced.
The flavor is a little more what you would expect from an oktoberfest: sweet, slightly butterscotchy, caramel, and hints of toast. The smoke isn’t nearly as prevalent as it is on the nose, but I think that really works in the beer’s favor. The carbonation is spry, but not overboard.
Overall, while I’m not ecstatic about this beer, I’d probably drink it again. As mentioned before, I’m not a huge fan of smoked beers in general but if anybody could do one that I enjoyed, it would be Heater Allen.
