THANKS, Jeffrey, for bringing these bottles out of the cellar during my visit! What a huge treat! Bottle-cap says ’purchased 11-2008’.
Cloudy and ruddy orange/amber, thin ring of a head, with minimal lacing. Bit of oxidation on the nose, along with warm banana, toasted wheat (more reminiscent of a dunkelweizen), and yeasty fruit/esters. Mild tartness, very little/no bitterness, medium body, low carb, and slight oxidation in the finish. Would have loved to have tried this fresh, but am simply grateful to have been able to sample at all. beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - DEC 14, 2008
From the bottle this poured a murky light brown with a thin off-white head. The nose was like a muddled mix of spice and yeast slurry. This beer was undrinkable, like a yeast milk shake, something was wrong with this, almost tasted like a cleaning product. I need to find another sample, because Ive liked everything from them so far, and this was just awful, I couldnt even finish a small portion of this bottle. riversideAK (6260) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - NOV 30, 2008
Bottle from Belmont Station. This one has a strong aroma of banana, clove, and spice along with strong toasty wheat malts. Pours a muddy brownish orange with no head. Looks pretty murky. Has strong flavors of tart medium dark wheat malt followed by some banana and clove. A crisp/tart finish with pretty noticeable carbonation. No idea what the ABV on this one is, but it drank very nicely. Good.
