Ingredients: Malts: British Pale Ale Malt, Cara Malt, Malted Wheat. Heather, Bogmyrtle.
The Brotherhood have been guardians of the ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) since 1988 and are proud to be the only brewery still producing this unique style of beer and distributing it world wide. A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt character, and a spicy herbal finish - This beer allows you to literally pour 4000 years of Scottish history into a glass.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.

Bottle at The Mudlark, London Bridge. Pours pale gold with a small white head. Aroma of flowers, heather, artificial sweetener, grass, fruit, herb and a touch of ginger. Medium to heavy sweetness, light bitterness. Light body, watery and oily texture, average carbonation. Sweet, marzipan finish. It's ok.

Decent ale, a bit watery though and a bit to much herbal features, could have been more hidden.

330ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a hazy light amber colour with a small white head. Aromas of bread and wet hay. Light herby taste. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Nothing spectacular. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Piepenhenrich (1229) - Steinbach, GERMANY - SEP 20, 2017
Pours light golden with medium head. Aroma of malts and some caramel. Malty flavors are accompanied by a distinct but not too strong floral element that makes this beer interesting.

0.5 l bottle from ’Bier & Beer’, best before May 2018. Clear, golden amber with a medium large, foamy, stable, white head. Sweetish, floral, slightly herbal aroma of hay, honey, heather and some caramel. Sweetish, floral and quite herbal-spicy taste of caramel, honey, heather, hay and some ginger, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly grassy and rather herbal-spicy finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very interesting, not too herbal, quite enjoyable. Okay!

erikaraeb (269) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUN 5, 2017
A peaty aroma typical of lighter ales like this. Tastes of grass, malt, and a touch of flowers with a definite honey sweetness. Not normally a fan of such light ales, and this one didn’t do much to convince me, but it is refreshing and a wee bit more out of the ordinary. You get a taste of history with such an old recipe, at least.

Orange Amber color and creamy white head. Fragrant sweet malt nose with obvious notes of heather and honey.mdryish, herbal malt flavor is unique. Notes of honey and fruity malt in finish.
