Bomber courtesy of Pete (non-RB) and to some extent GT2. Pours clear reddish dark brown with a frothy beige head that leaves some lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly sweet and malty with roasted malts, dark bread, cereal, grass, burnt caramel and hints of coffee. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter, malty and metallic with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, grass, lemon zest, burnt caramel, dark bread, charred wood and hints of liquorice root. Mouthfeel is crisp, round, very tiny tart and light to medium bodied. Finish is slightly bitter and tiny metallic with roasted malts, dark bread, grass and lemon zest. chinchill (5025) - South Carolina, USA - NOV 13, 2012
Very hoppy and light (dark brown rather than black).for a schwarzbier, and over carbonated, but just what one should expect in a "black pilsner". This includes a good bit of dark malt in both the nose and the flavor. Better and stronger flavor than aroma. A successful collaboration producing a nice combination of styles. Better after some warming. Dogbrick (13040) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 30, 2012
This brew is a brown-black color with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Roasted malt and hops in the nose. Light to medium body with a roasty character and flavors of peppery hops and sweet malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a grassy hops aftertaste. Decent overall. arkurzynski (2427) - Combined Locks, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 19, 2013
Generous pour from motortoddhead! Deep brown pour with frothy off-white head. Nose is gentle roast and faint coffee with lager-type malt and mild caramel. Flavor is smooth roast, caramel, and a faint fruity malt character. Some wet malt as well. Residual, powdery roast. BeerandBlues2 (13392) - Escondido, California, USA - MAR 27, 2013
Bottle. Pours clear black with dark brown highlights and a medium to small, frothy off-white head, short retention, leaving the head at the edge of the glass with ringed lacing. Aroma is nutty and toast malt with dates and light earthy hops. Flavor is malt dominant with dark malt derived fruits, light hops and bitterness, definitely balanced toward the malt with a sweet finish. Light body and medium carbonation.

Bottle. Pours deep, dark brown with a ruby tint and thin, creamy beige head; short retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is toasted malt, chocolate, faint espresso, earthy hops, figs, raisins, and light grassy notes. Flavor is malt forward with supporting earthy hops (light bitterness) and dark fruit esters; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation with low warmth. gsmitty80 (2130) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 21, 2012
This was a very easy drinking black beer with a bit of roast and chocolate in the taste. Hops were present but it was more or less a dark malty beer. Interesting and enjoyable. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - JUL 8, 2012
22oz bottle: pours a mostly opaque black with a small creamy off-white head. Has a fresh noble hoppy nose with a touch of roasted maltiness. Starts with decent fullness and effervescence with a light malty sweetness and a clean light piny hop flavor with some light roastiness in the finish. Pretty true to style, but nothing extraordinary. andyhwcinc (1884) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 18, 2012
Purchased at Hop City in Atlanta, GA; enjoyed prior to sticking it out in traffic to get from one end of the city to the other in rush hour. Appearance a very dark coffee brown with an apparent white head that rims around the glass. Aroma of light chocolate, bit of yeast, bit of nut. Taste a little thin but not bad, definite chocolate presence, moderate body with lighter carbonation. Decent stuff. alobar (3800) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 3, 2012
Pours a cola brown with a thin off-white head. Aroma of grain, roasted malt, and chocolate. Nice flavor with grain, roasted malt, hint of smoke and a chocolate ending. Nice beer!
