22oz bottle. Dark brown color. Off-white head. Decent roast aroma. Roasted barley taste, charred flavor. Finished with a bold wooded hop character under all of the roast. Light bodied, full of flavor. (3367) DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 21, 2012
22oz bottle. Clear dark red (near-black) color. Good thin tan head. Bit of lace. Soft, moderate carbonation, dry finish. Lighter body. Roasty aroma, some caramel and chocolate malts. Light bitter taste. Sweet honey note, as another rater said. Decent light schwarzbier.. OK flavor, but not very interesting, not an amazing texture. Savannah, Ga - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - 22 oz bomber. Dark brown, cola-like pour with a quickly dissipating, bubbly off-white head. Very faint chocolate notes in the aroma, otherwise pretty neutral. Flavor is slightly bland, some brief licorice notes, a hint of chocolate, finish of black dirt. Mouthfeel is slightly spritzy. Had better from these folks. andyburnette (26) - - JUL 26, 2012
Nice light dark lager but without the malty complexities of the true German. That said a wonderful late night summer beer when the air has cooled and the tinge of autumn and Oktoberfest is in the air. kassner (1659) - Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 17, 2012
Not really much there. An initial rusty taste, sort of a beer that was not sure what it was supposed to be. Ok a lager I guess with just a tad of roast and very little smoke. a confused beer.

Mild malt aroma and a mild malt flavor. Not a bad flavor, just not much going on with this beer. DavoleBomb (1867) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 22, 2012
Poured into a snifter.
3.5 A: Black color. One and a half fingers of frothy tan head. Retention is about average and a moderate amount of lacing is left.
3.0 S: Dry roastiness and caramel. A bit of neutral sweetness. Not very complex, but pleasant.
3.0 T: Moderate roastiness. Chocolate enters the scene. Caramel helps with the neutral malt sweetness to give this good balance. Still, it’s not very complex.
3.5 M: Lighter medium body. Carbonation is somewhat crisp and present is appropriate amounts. Clean and smooth.
3.5 D: It’s a decent beer, but it’s a little boring, especially for a collaboration beer. Still, it’s tasty nonetheless.

Bottle @ 18th RG. Prey dark with thin head. Smells like a cross between pilsener and stale coffee. Light toastiness in the flavor. Kind of grainy. Butters (4059) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JUN 23, 2012
Sampled at the at 18th Richmond gathering. Clear dark brown pour with fair offwhite head. Very vegetal smelling and tasting. Maybe they were going for nutty? I’m getting the pilsner on the flavor a little bit, but the heavy burnt/peaty malt is breaking this beer. I didn’t really care for this at all. JLLSU (238) - Acworth, Georgia, USA - JUN 19, 2012
22oz bottle ---> snifter. Pours cola black with amber edges when held to light with a small tan head. Aroma is similar to a 24oz. plastic cup of draft beer that you get at your local sports arena and the taste is about the same with a touch of bitterness at the end. This one looks good in a glass, but that’s about it. Worst beer I’ve had in quite some time.
