Despite the advertising of the massive amount of hops in the thing, and the reviews that talk about it, I actually find this beer to be well balanced with a significant malt taste to it. Maybe itís because it seems to contain some hops and malts that arenít in a lot of IPAs, and is missing other standard ones. This really seems like something thatís in a bit of a different category from some of the other IPAs I drink to some degree, though tís not that it doesnít fit the style, itís just a different way of approaching it. A lot of times I drink a hoppy IPA and then may want a second beer thatís a different style, whereas this I could see as a go-to beer. Very refreshing, and the malt presence isnít too heavy at all, nor do you feel like youíre missing out on hops, they are just a bit less harsh, but still spicy. Real flavorful while still being very drinkable without much dryness (In other words, itís not made more drinkable by being watered down, it has every bit of flavor as other IPAs if not more, itís just a more drinkable flavor). I remember a friend taking me out for a meal in Baltimore years ago and this was on special and I had several with some crab cakes, great combo. By the way, did I mention this is a Baltimore beer? Thatís a plus for me as a Baltimore kind of guy. Regular price is a bit expensive for me, but itís on sale or in a mix pack thatís on sale, or at a gathering or whatever, often enough that itís not unavailable, and as other beers go up in price, this seems more and more in the general ball park of the cheap craft beers (Often regularly priced $9.99/6). Would be interested in a $15-$16 twelve pack (Save a few bucks) if they could pull it off, but havenít seen that format.
From notes. Had this on draft at Chickís Oyster Bar in Virginia Beach on May 24. The pour is a darker golden orange with a thin ring of light off white head and a few spots of soapy lace as it falls. Itís interesting. The aroma is pretty good. There is a strong citrus and bitterness up front before the strong malts kick in. There is a light alcohol on the nose, and a little bit of bitter rind. The flavor is where it falls apart. Itís got a really sharp alcohol happening. Itís enormously bitter, and then fades into something almost sweet. The hop and pine resin just doesnít work and the sweetness of the malts is a mess. The mouth feel is watery, yet a little thick with a sharper carbonation and a lingering bitter alcohol on the finish. This one definitely is not for me. dagimp (1008) - Philly, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 22, 2017

Smell of grapefruit
Strong amount of hops but not overpowering. Good fruit flavors with some definite hops but not overbearing. Very nice.

On draft in DC. Aroma of tropical and citrus fruit. Some piney notes. A little malt comes thru. Caramel?
Appearance is a clear orange with off white head. So-so head retention. Nice lacing
Flavor is tropical fruit. Mango. Passionfruit. Some citrus notes. Moderate bitterness but lots of hop flavor. Fruit lingers in aftertaste
Mouthfeel - good carbonation. Dry finish. Very nice.
Overall - a great example of what IPA should be. Not too bitter but has lots of hop flavor. Wish aroma was stronger.

On cask, Ginger Man Boston. Deep copper colour, white foam. Quite malty, slightly crystal flavour, sweet background. Oily nice hop, some pine, some tropical fruit and berries. Defined bitterness, not obvious at first. Unusual one, not bad. Ericular (1016) - Minnesota, USA - FEB 5, 2017
Light flavor, thinner, slight bitter/sour. Not as flavorful as I like in a strong IPA.
