This malty lager is our most award-winning beer: it took gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival from 2006 to 2010. Cutlass Amber has a toasted, biscuity character. The slight sweetness comes from Crystal malt. Vienna malt contributes a remarkable smoothness and Munich malt gives an amber color and delicate aroma. Tettnang hops infuse the beer with a slight earthiness. Formerly named Heavy Seas Märzen, Cutlass Amber is our second best-selling beer. In 2012, Cutlass Amber won a silver medal at the World Beer Cup in the Vienna Lager category.

Not a lot of aroma here other than faint barley. Pretty much a pale lager in terms of experience. Golden pour. Some mash sour finish. Tap at Rosslyn brewpub.

This is a lager as it should be. Very smooth and light yet possessing a kick. Sweet aroma and sweet taste with caramel and sugar. The beer is thin as it should. Light bodied and extremely drinkable. These ratings are skewed towards the heavier beers. Thank god for the style percentages. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2015 4 oz pour from draft into sniffer at 42 degrees. A little flowery (lilac?). Maybe a little yeasty. Very smooth. Great body.

5/1/15. Happy International Tuba Day! Clear red pour with a small khaki head, almost no lacing. Sickeningly sweet aroma, cloying, caramel, biscuit. Very sweet flavor, caramel, toffee, biscuit, bread... really not my thing.

This beer somehow got a silver medal. Not sure about that. Very yeasty and sweet for a lager. Smells like fruit. Pours yellowish orange in color with a thin white head. Sink pour for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours clear amber, a little towards the dark end, with a thick - if not persistent - eggshell head. Crisp, malty aroma has a fruity hint. Flavor is crisp, malty with hints of pear and apple, typical but pleasing. Mouthfeel is about average in both fizz and viscosity departments. Could be a good gateway beer to wean people off macro-brewed swill.

Mild toasted caramel aroma. Light amber body. Sweet caramel taste with a mild roasted malt background. Feels fuller bodied than it looks. Sweet and wet to the finish.

Old rating. Pretty nondescript marzen type beer (which is not my favorite style anyway). Amber color. Toast, sweet, caramel malts. A little hop bittering. Completely forgettable.
