COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This malty lager is our most award-winning beer: it took gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival from 2006 to 2010. Cutlass Amber has a toasted, biscuity character. The slight sweetness comes from Crystal malt. Vienna malt contributes a remarkable smoothness and Munich malt gives an amber color and delicate aroma. Tettnang hops infuse the beer with a slight earthiness. Formerly named Heavy Seas Märzen, Cutlass Amber is our second best-selling beer. In 2012, Cutlass Amber won a silver medal at the World Beer Cup in the Vienna Lager category.

Pretty unpalatable brew. Flavor is light grass and not very smooth at all. Would expect a bit more from this company.

I typically dislike Marzens. However, this one is okay. Nothing special, but a decent enough malt profile with subdued hops. Better than most for the style.

A slightly better than average amber. Medium bodied, lightish red appearance with decent head. Sweet bready malts.

Aromas of bread dough, biscuit, light earthy hops. Orange-amber, mostly lasting white head. A touch of initial malt sweetness, biscuity, hops are clean and grassy. Light bodied, short clean finish with some residual malt flavors.

12oz bottle. Pours hazy medium dark amber. Bready, malty nose. Malty sweet taste but offset nicely by the hops. I’ve never been a fan of Vienna lagers, but since I enjoy Heavy Seas beers I decided to give it a shot. I think it’s a nice beer, but probably won’t buy again.

12oz Bottle. The pour was a clear caramel orange with an average (1-2 finger) white frothy head, reducing down to a light film and medium collar with poor runny lacing.

The aroma was of a sweet biscuit malt, mild herbal hops and an earthy doughy yeast with notes of caramel and toffee.

The taste was somewhat malty sweet and had a touch of caramel throughout, with the finish having a slight bitterness and a light toffee sweetness towards the end. The flavor lasted only a short time following the swallow, with a nice crisp finish on the palate.

Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a carbonation that was just past soft in intensity.

Overall I found this brew to be light in body and taste, that being said it still does possess a decent maltiness and a nice sweet bitter finish, making it somewhat enjoyable and easy to drink... www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews

@ Party Town / Florence KY - Nearly clear dirty copper with a long head cover, tiny streaks of lace. Taste is caramel malt with earthy spices lightly mixed in. Carbonation and a touch of hop bitters keep the balance. A decent brew with more flavor and complexity than many similar brews. Recommended.
