From tap. Bourbon and oak aroma. Sweet bourbon taste with a sligh amount of bitterness and hop flavor adding bite. Great mouthfeel.

pushkinwow (2851) - Ottawa, CANADA - NOV 30, 2016
2011 bottle from the cellar shared at GRMs. Clear mahogany with no head. Raisin, light prune, vanilla, oak, dry, sweet, some butterscotch, mild carbonation and full but slightly faded body, sweet and boozy finish. Definitely a bit past its prime but held up reasonably wrong.

Boutip (6432) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 24, 2016
Bottle: Poured a clear light copper color ale with a small foamy head with limited retention. Aroma of grainy malt with some bourbon notes and vanilla is pleasant enough. Taste is a nice mix between some woody notes with vanilla and bourbon and some grainy and caramelized malt notes. Body is a bit thin with good carbonation and some warming alcohol notes. Quite pleasant barleywine and very little oxidation for a 2011 vintage tasted in 2016.

Lubiere (14110) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 18, 2016
A reddish copper barleywine with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with light vinous notes, light bourbon barrel notes, woody notes, alcohol warmth, very nice and smooth. In mouth, a nice sweet caramel malt with vinous notes, loads of treacle, light butterscotch, resinous hops, light nutty notes, alcohol warmth, light bourbon vanilla, very nice. Bottle from Pushkinwow at GRMs tasting.

Bottle from 2012. Pours clear burnt umber, small tan head, dissipates quickly, some lacing. Aroma is vanilla, toffee, bourbon, cherry, caramel. Flavor is full sweet, light bitter, vanilla, oak, ash, dark sugars, bourbon. Medium body, light astringency. Solid beer here.

AirForceHops (7546) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - SEP 27, 2014
22 oz. bottle, 2012 vintage purchased at Georgios in Billerica, MA. Aroma is spot on for the style, prunes, raisin and sweet caramel, toffee.

Flavor is nice. Sweet without any booze, raisins, caramel dipped dates, sweet English malts, tones of yeast. The alcohol is not found at this point, the mouthfeel is lightly oily with a super sweet dried fruit finish. ABV is super smooth at this point, no oxidation found. Love how barely wines tastes at this point in the evolution. Solid sipper.

deyholla (11902) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 19, 2014
Bottle. Pours a hazy a orangish amber with a tan head that dissipates completely. Aroma has lots of sweet grains, caramel and toffee with underlying raisin and bourbon. Flavor has lots of sweet grains up front with bourbon, raisin towards the finish.

this dark decadent treat could be a prototype for a barreled barleywine. Ample oak and bourbon, but not so much the beer doesn’t shine. Sweet and deep flavors and aroma of carmel, raisins, vanilla, malt, bourbon. Very light on the hops, but appropriate. Very very nice sipping beer

alexsdad06 (10589) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JUN 29, 2014
22 oz bottle at home. Pours a hazy amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel, brown sugar, mild bourbon, wood, dark fruits, vanilla, pretty much all malts and sweet barrel stuff, I like the English style barleywines better generally, but this is missing something, not bad, but...

3.7
jkwood04 (5452) - Connecticut, USA - MAY 19, 2014
2012 22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours dark brown with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of light oak and bourbon and vanilla, caramel and toffee malts, light grains and dough, and some alcohol. Flavor the same. Average to smoother texture. A decent barley wine, but a little hot and not that balanced.
