22oz bottle. Thanks to Hopscotch for sharing this one. Pours a reddish orange. Nose is sweet malt and bourbon with some definite fruit character. This is a damn fruity barley wine. Which doesn’t bother me that much. I bet the cab version is very nice though. Vinous but lacking body to back it up. Nice caramel notes and lingering bourbon cherry caramel finish. This one has alot of potential but needs more body and needs to be pulled together a little better. Still better than I expected. Chuckaduck (674) - Highland Heights, Kentucky, USA - JAN 9, 2013
Pours red-brown with a thick white head. Aroma is lots of bourbon, some dark fruit and vanilla. Not real complicated, lots of bourbon. Taste is led by bourbon, some dark fruit, some vanilla, some spicy and herbal notes. Mostly that bourbon. I would have liked a bit more complexity, flavor-wise. The bourbon dominated this for me. Wasn’t the barley wine that I was hoping for. Still, I enjoyed it; very drinkable. paintedmaple (671) - People’s Republic of Bloomington, Indiana, USA - MAR 2, 2013
On tap Blackthorn Pub Holly,MI... surprisingly pale colored and clear for a barley wine with a small whitish head; this beer is striking due to the unique combo of oak, whiskey, and wine. All flavors assert themselves without overpowering each other. Crisp and non-cloying on the finish this is an outstanding BW. Scubatrip (610) - Annandale, Virginia, USA - AUG 16, 2013
From the bottle, pours deep red with a thinner white head. Aroma is sweet and fruity, smooth and alcoholic. Taste is smooth, cherries, alcohol, malt, very good beer. Miked1687 (608) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JAN 16, 2013
Smells sweet like a barley wine, but also has the bourbon nose. Nice red pour with a small white head. Has the barley wine sweetness without any hops really to balance it. The bourbon is thrown on top. Not sure it works, but it’s good enough.

Bomber pours a hazy burnt orange with a think brown head. Aromas of bourbon oak and some bread and a bit of yeast. Flavor is semi sweet with a boozy oaky flavor. Body is medium to full with a good aged oak finish budznsudz (584) - Audubon, New Jersey, USA - FEB 1, 2013
Deep reddish pour with a white head that fades to a ring with sticky lacing left behind. Big bourbon, oak, and vanilla on the nose. The taste is oak, vanilla, bourbon, and a hint of dark fruit and brown sugar. Pretty hot, think I’ll lay the rest down for a couple of years. TheGB (579) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 29, 2012
2010 version from Market Street Wine. Pours cloudy brown with almost no head. Aroma of caramel, molasses, sweet malt and hops. Medium to full bodied with a smooth palate that blends the sweet malt with bourbon. Tasty, the bourbon taste has probably mellowed since it’s the 2010. gpekar (497) - Florida, USA - FEB 3, 2013
Poured a clear dark chestnut orange (like a strong iced tea). There was a thin light beige head that dropped to just a film rather quickly. The aroma was primarily bourbon along with vanilla and dark fruits. The beer had a nice silky thicker texture and a nice bourbon flavor right up front along with the alcohol warmth. There is a nice sweetness of raisins, brown sugar and molasses to balance the alcohol flavor. The overall flavor mellows well into the finish with just a light alcohol bite and a big alcohol warmth. This was great for a cold snowy winter night.
