Vintage 2010. 22oz bottle. Red color, white head. Aroma of apple blossoms, toasted barley malt, fusel / booze, dark fruit. Flavor is of alcohol and candy. Like those liquor filled chocolates. Nice toasted malts, a good representation of dark fruit. Some woody notes, vanilla. Finishes with a good amount of wood and lots of alcohol. I’m glad it’s gonna be a long cold night. 6,4,7,4,14

(bottle - 22 oz) Clear copper pour with a thick white head. Thick and heavy bourbon and oak aroma with a lot of caramel malt sweetness. A lot of vanilla as well. Flavor starts out with a sweet bourbon taste. The bourbon is definitely potent and noticeable, but at the same time it’s not the only thing you taste. You get the sweetness from the malts and the vanilla and wood hints as well. Finishes smooth with a nice and warming bourbon aftertaste.

koleminer20 (3798) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - NOV 25, 2013
22 oz bottle. Part of a tasting 11/24/2013 at Fraser’s Pub in Ann Arbor. The pour is a reddish-brown with a thin filmy head and minimal lace. Whoa, the nose on this is pretty much of bourbon. It’s incredibly boozy. There is a hint of caramel on the front, and the bourbon drowns the rest out. The flavor begins with a promise, showing a little roastiness, some light caramel, and then BAM, all bourbon again. There are times where the complexity of the barleywine tries to poke through, but it just os overwhelmed. The mouth feel is pretty solid, and leaves a great coating on the tongue. Just wish it was a bit less boozy

Pours a muddy reddish brown. Syrupy vanilla and a big raisin flavor. Nice barley wine here with the ageing adding to and not overpowering the overall experience. Bourbon alcohol aroma. A bit of muted spy sauce ont he flavor definitely a sipping kind of beer and would do much better on a cold witty night as opposed to the sunny warm spring day we are having here today.
