A delicious barley wine! Much better than the original version. Aroma was perfect. Big and full caramel smell. Just a hint of bourbon but the caramel overpowers everything. Pour was a dark murky brown with a thin tan ring for a head. Taste was a little weaker than the aroma would let on but still very nice. Heavy caramel and vanilla flavors with just a hint of wood and not much bourbon to speak of. Tastes like there was not a single hop addition to this beer as it is very sweet and sticky. Mouth feel was a little thin but it had nice carbonation for a barley wine. Loved this beer! thornecb (6022) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 16, 2012
Pours mahogany into a tulip. Head quickly recedes leaving no lacing. Honey, oak and treacle aromas. Thick and chewy with sweet syrup, honey and vanilla, maple syrup finish. burg326 (5594) - Florida, USA - JAN 18, 2012
22 ounce bomber that pours a mahogany red color with very little tan head. Aromas of caramel malt, oak, vanilla, brown sugar, figs and dates. Flavor is much the same with a touch of bourbon initially. As the beer warmed, the bourbon flavor mellowed out with more of a vanilla finish. Real nice ber that I wish I had more of. crossovert (13738) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 14, 2012
This is an excellent and maybe underrated BA barleywine. The barrel doesn’t add too much or too little, just right. claaark13 (7) - Indiana, USA - APR 24, 2012 does not count

A - Dark brown with a reddish hue. Thick off-white head turns to some nice lacing. The lacing retention is fantastic. S - Sweet malts, slight oak, slight vanilla. T - Much like the aroma. Sweet malts, dark fruits, then hints of vanilla and sweet oak push through. Very smooth throughout. There is a little bit of a drag in the flavor before the barrel picks up. The vanilla/caramel/oak almost shows a candy-like flavor from middle to end. The finish gives the slightest amount of heat and dryness, but is fairly smooth. P - Medium, feels a little thicker and has some carbonation. Pretty nice. O - Good flavors, not too hot, smooth finish.

Draft. Bocktown. Mahogony ruby color. I love oak aged beers and this one is up to the task. Beautiful oak aroma with some caramel and slight fruit. Same with the taste. Just beautiful oaked flavors compliment this beer. Complex. Well done. Scubatrip (610) - Annandale, Virginia, USA - AUG 16, 2013

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2013 Drank with Thijs 22-12-13. Dark copper color. Small head. Hints of barrel aged, nice. Also present alcohol. Sweet start, bitter finish. Nice beer. Okay, but not too rich. zach8270 (4021) - Henrietta, New York, USA - MAY 28, 2010
(bottle - 22 oz) Clear copper pour with a thick white head. Thick and heavy bourbon and oak aroma with a lot of caramel malt sweetness. A lot of vanilla as well. Flavor starts out with a sweet bourbon taste. The bourbon is definitely potent and noticeable, but at the same time it’s not the only thing you taste. You get the sweetness from the malts and the vanilla and wood hints as well. Finishes smooth with a nice and warming bourbon aftertaste. RickTStiles (826) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 3, 2010
