Malts: American 2-Row, Crystal, Biscuit
ABV: 10.6%
IBU: 75.5

Big DIPA – Double IPA, is the first in the Heavy Seas Special Edition Series due to be released in mid June. Hopped 3 times in the brewing process, Big DIPA has an earthy hop aroma. In keeping with the Heavy Seas philosophy we’ve made a big beer with a surprising balance. The best part is that you’ll hardly notice it’s 10.6% ABV (est). The label artwork was created by Kurt Krol, one of our brewers who also helped to develop the recipe.

BB backlog, bottle, pours a hazy copper color with medium head. Notes of pine, grapefruit, sweet malt, candy syrups and other bread forward notes. Way too cloying for its own good. Pass

A beautifully done DIPA by Heavy Seas! Glad I was able to get my hands on this smooth but powerful hop brew!

Bebum (1062) - Massachusetts, USA - MAY 16, 2014
Light copper, clear, lasting head, a lot of lace. Full body, intense flavor and carbonation, rich and smooth mouthfeel, pleasant balance, very long palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A- Pours a clear copper color with a nice, 1.5 finger frothy head. S- Smell sweet and malty with hints of caramel. T- Very sweet, caramel, hints of piney hops. A bit of a mettalic aftertaste. M- Thick with low carbonation. D- This was a fairly drinkable beer however I think it was a little off balance in the malt department which made it a little harder to drink.

hotstuff (5233) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - JAN 30, 2014
Rated on 01-03-2010 (Bottle) When poured, this beer forms a small ivory head with a short retention, transparent orange body, visible carbonation, and it has spotty amounts of lacing. The Aroma is caramel malt, bitter, and citrus hops. The Taste is very bitter, caramel malt, citrus hops, and has a short dry finish. The Palate is tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer is a beer for the hopheads, is a sipping beer and has a lingering biter hoppy aftertaste. If you enjoy very hoppy tasting beer, then I recommend trying this one.

Bottle. Deep amber brown color, thick cream colored head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of caramel and pine. Taste is pure pine resin and sweet malt. Big and plain.

Nice Beer! Pours a dark amber, cloudy with a nice white head that holds well. Aroma was malty sweet and hoppy. Taste was a nice sweetness from the malt and a good blend of hops that bitter nicely. The aftertaste was good. The mouth feel was full. A really good beer!
