Cloudy brown appearance with an off white head. Aroma is yeast and a little fruity. Slightly musty but not in an unpleasant way. Flavor is strong yeast with a sweet, slightly alcohol burn to it. Rather nice but not quite amazing.
Catch up rating. Color is cloudy caramel-brown. Reddish orange hues, with a big foamy head sitting high. Tall head leaving sticky spots all over the top of the glass. Lots of fruits in the nose, mainly banana. Sweat malt and hints of clove and mild spices. Taste is sweet malt and bananas. Spiced alcohol, slightly nutty. Bitter hop twist and and alcohol kick. Pours nearly clear, red-brown with a small tan head.
Aroma is sweet...dark, ripe fruit, spiced wheat.
Taste is also sweet, dark caramel malt, dark fruit, baked bread, yeast, a little booze.
A little funkiness....raisin... thickly sweet.
Very smooth...not too flat for such an advanced age of a specimen...still has a little tickle of carbonation....a little "agey" tang...but no oxidation or spoiling.

I must have seen this one in the store about a million times over the years but have never taken the plunge until now. It’s time to surf the waves dude!:
Ap: EXTREMELY cloudy dark brown, with a slight hazy head, and moderate carbonation.
Ar: It smells like some sort of ultra, ultra, ultra sweet caramel candy. A hint of banana adds to the funkiness.
T: The overbearing sweetness is really hitting me hard upfront. I can only detect wheat if I really concentrate on it. The more I drink of it, I start to get a mild nuttiness.
P: Kind of syrupy, with the alcohol burning after about the 4th or 5th sip.
O: Not very....the sugariness is just way too over the top for my tastes. However, I’m willing to admit that this style just may not be my cup of tea...or beer.

Refrigerated 2011 brown bomber poured into a weizen glass. Pours translucent medium brown at top which transitions to light brown at the bottom with small beige head. Little lacing, medium body, lighter carbonation, and rich dark fruit aroma. Taste is caramel, dark fruit (mostly raisin with some fig), roasted malt, nuts, some banana, and some alcohol. Pretty heavy but not in a real bad way, alcohol is not covered or I would rate this one much higher. Blind taste test and I would have said a dark strong belgian ale. Poured from a 22 ounce bottle into a Belgian style tulip. Pours a dark amber color with a very nice, creamy, beige head of foam. Nice retention. Aroma is big on the dark fruits and dried and candied fruits. Raisins and some plum come through. I don’t get much in the way of esters here, unfortunately. The taste is malty sweetness with more of the raisiny notes mentioned before. This beer is pretty good, but if a person had given it to me blindly and said it was a barley wine, I would have believed them.

Hazy brown beer, no head. Very low carbonation. Semi soft and semi dry palate. Sweet malt with a little honey. Nice tangy fruits including cherry and raspberry. Milky sweetness. Finishes soft. Decent.

The Heavy Seas weizen doppelbock wheat beer "Hang Ten" just came in this week. I was told there wasn’t a lot to go around, so it was something I had to try. I’m a big fan of wheat beers, doppelbocks, and of course Heavy Seas.
Upon pouring, the aromas are leaping from the glass at me. The pour reveals a very dark rusty colored beer, with a light fluffy head. The foam is a light beige tone, and not super thick, but very fluffy and pillowy.
A little bit a swirling creates a ton of foam with such tiny bubbles I’m mildly amazed. Its sticking to the glass a little bit, creating some subtle lacing.
With my nose in the glass the first thing I get is the alcohol. I’m not surprised, considering the label declares the "Hang Ten" at 10% abv. This might be three highest alcohol wheat beer I’ve ever had. After I get past the booze aromas, I’m getting some soft wheat aromas that reminds me of the Weihenstephan Hefeweis. I’m getting virtually no hops at all, with some heavy malty sweets. There’s definitely a bit of spice, but its tough to pick out any distinct aromas underneath the sweet wheaty malts.
With my first sip, it tastes great, but I’m a little disappointed. It tastes much more like a good hefe than it does a doppelbock. There is some mild spice, but like the aromas, dominated by malty sweetness. The "Hang Ten" goes down super smooth, its as fluffy in the mouth as it was when I first poured. Seriously, it’s weird, it feels like cotton candy!
Although I’m a little disappointed comparing this to other doppelbock brews, the "Hang Ten" quite enjoyable. I’m a huge fan of the "Vitus" from Weihenstephan, for its body, spice, and drinkability; but the Hang Ten is very tasty. Yes Chris, I used the word "tasty" in that sentence.

Pours very dark brown from bottle with an inch of khaki foam. More maltiness on the nose then yeast. You could say the same about the taste. You can reall taste the 10% of this one. Finish is fairly big. Nice bedtime beer especially if you haven’t eaten all year.
