COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At Heavy Seas, we brew a traditional English-style pale ale with our own East Coast twist: UK Fuggles and Goldings dominate the flavor of Powder Monkey, but has subtle notes of citrus and flower from Cascade hops added in the boil and hopback. Brass in color, Powder Monkey, like all of our beers, is well balanced: distinct bitterness and a slight malt sweetness characterize the taste. In 2010, it won a bronze medal at the World Beer Cup; in 2008, it won a silver medal at the Great American Beer Festival.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy orange color with just a covering of white foam. Aroma is faint, but what is there is caramel with some British hops. Medium light body, taste is a little hop forward, but not much. Some sweetness in the background. Finish is fairly clean, a touch of bitterness. Easy drinking, average for the style.

Pours lightly hazy orange-amber with a 1-finger off-white head. Mild aroma of citrus hops with caramel underneath. Body is a touch lighter than medium, with a touch of fizziness and a dry finish. Mild flavor of piney hops up front, with caramel and biscuit malt notes beneath.

Pretty sweet and malty. Not really my thing. Drinks kind of heavy and sugary. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

i like it. the sour mash and lower hop flavor the beer is nicely malty unpretensious and quenching. it is flavorful and leaves you wanting more. although it seems something is missing i think its just my jaded tastebuds learning to appreciate again. old ale character with easy booze that you cant even tell. big old flavorful session.

OK for style, meaning this is properly boring but easy to drink. Dark amber pour with good head and lacing. Light bitter finish. Some mash malt. Some light citrus peel, but not super well integrated. Tap at Rosslyn brewpub.

An interesting pale ale. Has flavor of banana okay but not a pale ale but a pretty good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
