Pils, Carapils, and wheat malts, Belgian candi sugar
Magnum and Styrian Goldings Hops
This beer is brewed in the Belgian Saison style (country farm house ale). A potent yet delicate ale, brewed with a unique Belgian yeast which develops a spicy, fruity flavor. Enormously complex. Available from May to around August.

Hazy straw color with 2 finger white head. Citrus, spicy, saison aroma. Some malt sweetness up front with herbal spicy yeasty hop character. A hint tart. Citrus herbal finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle, poured into a tulip at approximately 50 degrees F.

A: Pours a honey-straw gold and forms a two-finger white head, which has decent retention. The body of the beer is cloudy and hazy, though not so much that one cannot see bubbles streaming steadily from the bottom. The lacing was patchy, but clung thick where it did.

S: Light bread with banana and clove, with Belgian candi sweetness. There’s also some hints of something bubblegummy, and a light grassy note.

T: An almost hefe-like profile of light wheat, clove, and banana strikes up front, and is swiftly cut into by a veritable jagged spiked wall of spicy, grassy bitter. There’s a faint fruitiness underneath that, something like a pear or green apple, though it is mostly covered by the hopalanche. I don’t get much funk or sour from this.

M: Light-bodied and sharply carbonated.

O: I would likely rate this beer a bit higher if it involved a bit less grassy hop bittering, and a bit more sourness / funkiness. As it stands, this drinks like an over-hopped hefeweizen.

Poured a hazy gold colour with a 1/2 inch head. Sweet aroma of banana, clove and citrus with encompassing notes of peppery spice. Very sweet and fruity malt flavor and tangy notes of yeast with intense spice. Medium bodied with light carbonation. One of my favorites from this brewery.

Heavy Seas Red Sky on cask at the 2014 Decatur Beer Festival.
Off-white head over a slightly hazyboy; durable and creamy head.

Reversing my usual reaction to saisons, this one smells better that it tastes.
A load of wild yeasty flavors in the mouth. Some hint of vinegar in the nose.
Highly complex flavor.

Bottle, pours gold with a red tint, white head. Cloves to the nose, which continues thru to taste with banana. ABV 7.5% Not bad, but not what I like. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, aroma is heavy clove and banana. Taste is similar with a full slick mouthfeel, not my bag

Slightly hazed gold with frothy white head. Belgian yeast in nose, sweet tangy flavor, hay, banana. Not a good representation of the style.

bkurtz (1137) - LITHUANIA - SEP 24, 2014
Bottle - Pours a clear golden with a smallish white head. Sweet aroma with caramel. Interesting, cider notes and yeast. Tangy with a smooth finish. Not particularly well made, but I like it.

Attractive orange pour w/ a white head that leaves lacing. The aroma is of mild spice. The taste is almost peppery. A little different for a saison but not bad. Not the easiest on the palate but i still enjoyed this!

3.5
phaleslu (10750) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 16, 2014
Draft sample at Cincy Beerfest 2014 on Fountain Square. Pours a cloudy gold with a small white head. Notes of bread, banana, fruity esters, citrus zest, florals, and mellow spice. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a dry, sweet, estery mouthfeel. Assertive Belgian-style saison.
