COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Riptide white IPA is a beer brewed with a malt body similar to a Belgian style Wit with loads of torrified wheat. It’s hopped like an IPA, but we use a unique blend of Czech Saaz, French Strisselspalt, Calypso, Centennial and Cascade hops to create a big citrus nose and flavor with floral accents. To complete the feel of the wit style, we push the beer through our hopback which is loaded with Spanish sweet orange peel, Curaçao bitter orange peel, coriander, and a generous helping of hops. It’s fermented with a classic Belgian Wit yeast which provides all of the fruity and spicy notes you’d expect. We then blast the tank with our hop cannon which is loaded with Calypso, Strisselspalt, and Citra hops and more orange peel. The beer is then lightly filtered to retain all of the exceptional yeast character.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a slightly hazy light gold with a thin white film on top for a head. The nose has a good bit of spice, yeast, and clove. There is a slight herbal quality to it as well. Fairly light on the tongue. The orange peel and clove are the two most dominant notes on the palate with a little bit of doughy yeast and zesty spiciness. The bitterness on the back end seems at odds with the rest of the brew though. The two side of this coin aren’t quite working together.

12 oz bottle pours a hazy amber color with a nice white ear. Aromas of orange, citrus, coriander,. Medium body, a nice summer beer and combination of two styles

Bottle. Purchase before: 08/13. A hazy amber pour with a smallish beige head. The aroma features lots of orange juice, orange rinds, candi sugar, caramel, vanilla cream, coriander, and a vague musty funkiness. Relatively medium-bodied on the way down. Caramel and candi sugar start things off taste-wise. A grainy middle. Plenty of orange juice and zesty rinds at the drying end. Pretty spicy with some coriander and a little pepper throughout. The slightest touch of warming alcohol from start to finish. Not bad.

bottle poured into pint glass. inch of white head which disappeared quickly leaving no lace. first taste is similar to most wit beers i’ve had. label of white ipa intrigued me and i’m glad i tried, but not my favorite. impressed with how well the 7.25 was hidden.
