Presentation: It was poured from a brown 1pt 6oz bottle into a tulip glass. Appearance: The body has a deep dark garnet color with a slight haze. This is topped with a small, slow fading head of tan foam. The head just holds a wispy this layer and lacing is very slick. Smell: The aroma brings notes of dark fruit, earthy dank wood and sweet candy like malts to the nose. I also get a light nutty note with some funky yeast and very faint herbal hops way off in the background. Taste/Palate: The flavor has a big full bodied hit of sweet fruity malts with earthy and almost spicy woody flavors. Dark fruits like plums, raisins and dried black cherries mix with dank oak, maple and cedar like woody notes. Hop flavor is very mild and the finish is on the sweeter side.

650 ml. pours dark brown-mahogany with a thin cream on top. Smells of chocolate malt, toffee, clove and raisin. Flavors of earthy spiced toffee, dates, root vegetable, molasses and some toasted wood in the finish. Heavy body is sweet, nearly cloying, and has smooth low-medium fizz.

Pours a deep brown color. Very light head even with a strong pour. Noise is pretty boozy, light caramel, chocolate, candy sugar, molasses, vanilla. Amazing palate, light and chocolaty that builds and finishes almost like mocha. Notes of chocolate, smoke, vanilla, wood, butterscotch, plum, dark stone fruit, honey, caramel. Finishing this rating before I finish the beer but wouldn’t be surprised to see the flavor get a bit drowned out from alcohol as it warms.

Shared bomber poured to snifters showing a ruby highlighted, darkest brown hue, with a bubbly layer of tan foam, and dots & dashes of lacing. The nose was dark fruit as prune/plum, raisin & cherry, with a port/sherry-like nature, and some brown sugar & molasses sweetness after warming a bit. Medium+ bodied, with soft carbonation, the taste was similar notes as the aroma, remained sweet, with some added warmth, but didn’t possess as much barrel or tannic influence to accompany the moderate, earthy bitterness as proclaimed. Still quite tasty.

Thin sloppy head of varying sized bubbles. Sweet and malty aroma. Almost dopplebockish. Wood notes, light bourbon, gingerbread and molasses. Color is a nice mahagony brown. Thick, sweet and malty and super super smooth! Dark chocolate covered cherries, raisins, brown sugar and toffee. Rather prominent alcohol presence that hit ip front and lingers for a while. Sofy malty palate. Missing the carbonation reminiscent of a good quad but does hit the complexity and maltiness that is typical for the style. A pretty good quad.

Poured a slightly red deep clear brown color with a very thin tan head. Nice fruity aroma with figs, cherries, plums, and raisins. Some booze detected. Taste is very rich with plums and raisins. Some alcohol. A touch of brown sugar and caramel as well. Slightly syrupy. Overall very nice flavors and complexity, but it’s a bit too much.

$8.79 bomber, Wine Warehouse. Pours reddish brown with a half-inch of reddish-tan head. Aroma of dry cat food (I’ve had cats all my life, I know the smell), dark fruits (almost reminding me of a fruit cake), and toffee. Taste is dark fruits, toffee, licorice... Not sure how I feel about this one.

Bomber from Beer Run, 3/30/16. Clear dark brown, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of bread, toffee, spice, pepper, burnt wood, mild molasses. The taste is plum, cherry, caramel, bread, spice, woody finish. Medium bodied, low carbonation, mild booze.

22oz bottle, split three ways. Poured a really dark brown color, cola color perhaps, but more opaque. Aroma was lots of dried fruits, caramel notes. Earthy notes, with some raisin, plum, burnt dark sugars.
