COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When we decided to resurrect the Big DIPA, we knew that we needed to make it bigger and better. We’ve brought the beer back with the same 10.5%ABV as before, the same massive amounts of hops as before, but this time, we’ve aged it on oak spirals. Oak spirals suspended in solution allow more surface area to come into contact with the beer increasing the oak presence without increasing exposure time. This results in a smoother oak flavor and further compliments the extraordinary hop characteristics. Cheers!

Travlr (24897) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAY 19, 2013
Clear golden amber color, medium white head. Aroma of lightly spiced, earthy citrus. Taste starts with big malt, then citrus then bitter finish, a bit boozy. OK.

Draft. Poured clear dark copper color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex hop and sweet wood aroma. Medium to full body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy smooth bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a solid beer.

22oz bottle. Medium off-white head that mostly dissipates atop crystal clear deep amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, grapefruit, some wood. Taste is sweet, grapefruit, caramel, some orange, light wood. Sticky medium-full body, light resin.

3.9
Drake (13741) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 16, 2013
Bomber from Wegman’s Lake Manassas. Pours a clear copper color with a thin frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of wood, spicy, citrus and herbal hops, pale biscuit malts with just a touch of caramel. The taste is citrus hops, candied citrus, caramel malts, wood. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, moderate lingering bitterness and a good bit of sweetness. Almost too much. Decent.

BeerandBlues2 (13323) - Escondido, California, USA - MAY 26, 2013
Bottle @ home. Pours clear dark amber with a medium to small, frothy and foamy off-white head, short retention with light to good lacing. Aroma is candied apple, pear, and pineapple fruity esters with honey, cookie, and toast malt, citrus and floral hops with light grassy and resin hop notes. Flavor is moderate hops and bitterness with a supporting sweet malt and fruity ester backbone, light dry oak notes, some bourbon and coconut character with a dry finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

crossovert (12934) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 25, 2013
Was weary of this being a clearance and an oak-aged dipa. It is the 2013 vintage. Hardly any aroma at all besides stale grain and some oak. Flavor is suprisingly good. A bit boozy but nice oak flavors to go with some earthiness, citrus, and mild bitterness.

3.6
hopdog (12584) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 6, 2013
22oz bottle. Poured an amber color with an off white head. Aromas of floral hops, some skunky week, and wood. Tastes of citrus, some wood, floral hops, caramel, and vanilla.

Sammy (12210) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 16, 2013
Fresh bottle from Premier. Initially getting creamy orange hop flavour and some oak, then much booziness. The booze just attacks and attacks, rather than the hop in your face flavour. Still good drinkability for a late nightcap.

3.8
DocLock (10702) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 26, 2014
Draft notes from Craft Ale. Pours hazy copper with off-white head. Nose was caramel malt, oak, hops, fruit. Tasted malty, caramelly, somewhat sweet, pretty dense on the tongue, with a caramel malt flavor up front, then notes of hops, fruit, and oaky vanilla.

3.5
alexsdad06 (10434) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 28, 2015
Draft at Dutch’s from notes. Pours a clear amber/copper color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel and toasted malts, some herbal, resiny and citrus hops, noticeable oak character, sweet, mild to moderate bitterness, this DIPA leans much more to the malts.
