(Jul-Sep) Style be damned once again. An Alt that's a lager? Stickenjab is a sticke or secret alt that was smacked upside the head with lots-o-German hops. Formulated in the collective mind of NJAB (New Jersey Association of Beerwriters), this beer is our fourth collaborative brew. Munich and pilsner malts support an armful of Hersbrucker hops. This crisp, clean amber brew is available is the summer months. 48 IBUs and 6.4% ABV.

Carmel color, bread aroma with a bit of spice. Bran muffin and banana and a nice hop finish. A bit rough finish - could be my handling (beer was frozen). Looking forward to try another, nice brew.

Bottle @ The WWGT2D? Tasting. I hope travlr doesnt rate this. Amber with a small head. The nose is oxidized, as youd expect. SOme sherry and rotting cherry. Cardboard sprinkled with cocoa powder. The taste is a great advertisement for the benefits of cellaring. Nasty cardboard. Mildly soured cherries. Bear claw donut. Light body, soft carbonation.

Join me, as I enjoy a Taste of History!

Appearance: Cautiously poured a deep amber-hued body, quite clear, due to the yeast packed into the bottom of the bottle due to years of quiet solitude. No head beyond a few, large stray bottles.

Smell: Toasted breadcrusts, some cooked honey, and aged-derived notes of cardboard and a hint of metal. Some dark fruitiness, some dirty socks.

Taste: Toasted breadcrusts, forgotten grains, and a low, supporting honeyesque sweetness. Raisins, loose change, and some water-logged cardboard.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. No remaining carbonation.

Overall: This had been another installment of... a Taste of History!

Sampled at the Richmond Gathering XII. Pours a dull amber with ring of near white head. Nose is sweet caramel, biscuit, and some oxidation. Flavor is a little cardboard, sweet apples. Medium palate. Decent for the style i suppose? Easy drinker.

Bottle from kp. Served into a snifter. Pour is hazy nut brown with a small ring of sticky white head. Aromas of rasins, caramel, faded hops, and sweet fruit. Flavor is mellow and smooth with caramel, rasin, and plum. Past its prime but still enjoyable.

Bottle (3 years old?), courtesy GodOfThunder. Pours a hazy, reddish amber color with a dense, foamy, khaki colored head. Minimal, spotty lacing. The aroma is mostly sweet, light caramel and bready yeast dominating lesser notes of toffee, floral hops, and peppery spice. Flavors follow suit, sweet biscuit and toasted bread showing in the forefront, with staunch floral hops following through. Dark fruits emerge at the mid point, mostly figgy, but reaching as far as sweet-tart strawberry. Medium-plus bodied and well carbonated, the mouthfeel doesnt impress, but doesnt disappoint either. As others have noted, its certainly not at its best, but it is still solid even at this age.
