Surprisingly good. After a vacation to the Czech Republic I think I understand this style. This beer nearly hits the mark. Where it is off is that it is slightly too sweet, but only a little and not overwhelming like some dunkels. The beer is black, very thick and rocky head. Aroma of roasted malt, and dry, roasty flavor with sugar. Heavier than many of the style. Purchased at Surdyk’s; Minneapolis. skortila (6009) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - MAR 1, 2006
6th Dutch Ratebeer Gathering. Malty caramel aroma with some hints of fruit. Dark coloured beer with a good head. Taste is roasted malty, sweet, quite smooth. Watery body. SilkTork (5919) - Southampton, United Kingdom, Hampshire, ENGLAND - MAR 20, 2007
500ml bottle from BeersOfEurope. A smooth, dark malty beer with a lot of soft milk chocolate flavours finished with a tang of metal. Polish dark lagers are quite pleasant. Quite creamy and milky. British little old ladies would love this stuff. Great fun. johndoughty (5600) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 27, 2007
Dark and poured with no carbonation and quite flat.Straight forward with no complexity but still a nice beer. Cornfield (5569) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - DEC 26, 2006
The other beers that I’ve had from Browary Warmińsko-Mazurskie Jurand were interesting in some way, shape, or form. This dunkel looks nice, a dark brown body with red highlights and a sudsy light brown head. But the light aroma of dark caramel with some drops of old coffee is way too cloyingly sweet for me. It’s a thin, watery brew and the flavor is very light, sweet caramel, a suggestion of chocolate, and much, much water. Over all, a let down.

Bottld. Milkchocolat aroma. Very dark brown color, light brown head, good lace. Sweet, light bitter, light roasted, hint of chocolat, hint of sugar, medium body. muzzlehatch (4975) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 13, 2007
500 ml bottle purchased sometime this past fall somewhere in the midwest (??), enjoyed from a Trout Brook mug at cellar temperature. Dark, clear purplish-black body with a small to moderate lasting creamy-bubbly light brown head, lovely thick lacing....wow, beautiful nutty-chocolatey, roasty aroma, a bit of oatmeal, vanilla and caramel in there too, so decadent and inviting and quite surprisingly very very fresh....I’m a bit worried that the flavor won’t hold up to the delicious nose, but I have little to worry about, it’s nearly as rich and delightful as I’d hoped for, sweet and chocolaty-caky at the front, drying out somewhat by the finish, with very light mineralic/salty qualities and some light vanilla bean touches....I really didn’t find this thin at all, as some have suggested, and the balance of roast and sweetness is well-night perfect....carbonation is just a bit low, leading to a bit of syrupyness. An astonishing find -- one of the most underrated beers on this site, as far as I’m concerned. Wish I had easy access to more.... Nekronos (4213) - Xalapa, MEXICO - SEP 7, 2007
Quite good but tastless after a while, the foam is not like in the label. Very dark indeed, but nothing special. Jukkabro (3484) - Tampere, FINLAND - SEP 13, 2006
Black colored, slight red hints. Little beige head. Nicely roasted coffee aroma with caramelly sweetness, chocolate and licorice. Medium bodied. Flavor is also rich with good touch of roastiness, sweetness, licorice, chocolate and coffee. Aftertaste lasts with caramel and drying hops.
