Surprisingly good. After a vacation to the Czech Republic I think I understand this style. This beer nearly hits the mark. Where it is off is that it is slightly too sweet, but only a little and not overwhelming like some dunkels. The beer is black, very thick and rocky head. Aroma of roasted malt, and dry, roasty flavor with sugar. Heavier than many of the style. Purchased at Surdyk’s; Minneapolis. Jukkabro (3484) - Tampere, FINLAND - SEP 13, 2006
Black colored, slight red hints. Little beige head. Nicely roasted coffee aroma with caramelly sweetness, chocolate and licorice. Medium bodied. Flavor is also rich with good touch of roastiness, sweetness, licorice, chocolate and coffee. Aftertaste lasts with caramel and drying hops. detroiter (958) - Euphoria, Minnesota, USA - JAN 15, 2007
Pours a deep dark brown, topped by a thick and creamy head of tan foam. Good head retention and lacing. Chocolate and animal-feed grain in the aroma.
Bittersweet chocolate, mild coffee, and roasted grain in the flavor. Both sweet and dry with a hint of fruit. Medium body, moderate carbonation, a hint of a hop tang in the finish. Dry grain in the aftertaste. Stefano (2021) - Thisted, DENMARK - DEC 21, 2007
Black colored, slight red hints. Little beige head. Nicely roasted coffee aroma with caramelly sweetness. Taste was roasty and a bit dark with some hints of chocolate up front a slight amount of caramel or possibly burnt caramel and finishes up with a roasty chocolate. UPDATED: DEC 22, 2008 Small darker beige head over fully opaque red-brown beer. Creamy nose, hazelnut-chocolate spread, sweet bread, milkchocolate, and some dry instant coffeepowder. And brown sugar. Surprising lactic-sourish edge to sweet, but also roasted and even lightly smoked touches on milk chocolate. Mainly sweet, Traubenzucker , but glimpses of hopbitterness come peeping around the corner. Pretty balanced. Slick, light to medium bodied, but not empty. Nice, if somewhat unusual Schwarz. Thanks to DeanS!

500 ml bottle, a gift from my son Steinar (bought in Poland). Brewed by Herrnbräu in Ingolstadt, Germany. ABV is 5.2%. Extract 12,5%. Pasteurized. Beautiful deep copper to chestnut colour, big to moderate cream-coloured head. Very malty aroma, notes of caramel, rye bread and bakery. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is also malty and sweet with notes of caramel and rye bread, also a slight roastiness. The hops in the finish are very moderate, but sufficient (together with the roastiness) to balance the sweetness and make the beer very drinkable. tomciccateri (1034) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - MAR 27, 2008
500ml brown bottle labeled Czarne Piwo. Pours a clear brown with a slight tan head and fine bubbles. Light-bodied, with a slight coffee flavor, dark malty sweetness. Not bad. madmitch76 (25101) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JAN 3, 2011

Warning! Early amateur rating! As Heban Czarne Piwo brewed in Poland and at 5.4% abv :- Dark Lager. Marmite nose. Mild malty chocolate with a smooth almost creamy palate. Semi dry finish.
Nice intensiv color. It smells dark-malty, sweet caramel. The taste is roasty, coffee, liquorice. Good! 11/11/12/11/12/11 michalmachpl (245) - Rudnik nad Sanem / Rzeszów, POLAND - MAY 31, 2015
Spisane z Notatek kiedy Ratebeer był w zeszycie. Główne poszukiwania nowych piw i smaków w tamtym czasie kiedy w Polsce były tylko koncernowe piwa odkrywałem świat piw innych niż tylko dostępne w zwykłym monopolowym to były głównie piwa zagraniczne,
Piwo wypite w 2006,
Z notatek wynika że było całkiem fajne :)
