Very hazy dark amber beer, decent cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry, fine carbonation. Creamy bourbon soaked malt. Alcohol spice. Touch of bitter wood. Nice smooth vanilla oak. Mild hop spice and a little marmalade. Finishes semi dry with the bourbon turning a little bitter. Quite bourbon led but nice. As per other raters, this really seems a barleywine and not a DIPA.

On tap at The Beer Mongers, pours a dark orange-tinted mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma is very complex, with notes of caramel, whiskey, rye, and citrus hops. Flavour is exquisitely complex, with loads of whiskey, rye, and the hops still shine through. Amazing depth to this, with a super creamy palate. Whiskey notes dominate but in a great way. Bomber from the Co-Op in Davis, CA. Pours clear ruddy copper with a 3.5 finger foamy beige/tan head. Aroma is sort of hoppy over roast malt and a touch of that smooth vanilla? aroma associated with whisky barrels. Medium plus body with foamy/creamy carbonation. Rye it is. Oaky it is. Very hoppy it is. I’d say citrus and floral, but the barrel/whisky aspect sort of confuses things. There’s a lot going on here, including some mild heat. It is very, very tasty. On tap @ Bistro BA Fest poured a clear copper with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of rye, carmel, light eartthiness and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish.
