Take aim at Shmaltz’s newest year-round offering, an American Craft Lager thoughtfully created to stand up to the big beer Goliaths of the world. Boasting a bright, citrusy hop aroma, supported by touches of wheat and rye, Slingshot is guaranteed to strike the craft beer bullseye every time.

Slingshot pours a bright straw color with a thin white head and light lacing. The aroma features juicy, tropical fruit notes of peach, lemon and red grapefruit with the light spice accent of noble hops. The polished malt bill is mainly 2-row pale malt with portions of Vienna and a touch of wheat and rye to add a delicate balance to the spice and fruit. It is medium in body with a smooth refreshing mouthfeel to make Slingshot a well-balanced, easy drinking American craft lager.

Hay and bread malt aromas. Golden amber color, off-white head. Great lacing. Taste is sweet malts. Not sure where the hops are?

Bottle, thanks Shen. Pours a hazed gold with a medium sized white head. Musky hops, soft grain. Big musk and fruit. Medium bodied, light and crisp. Gentle with a soft bit of grain.

Quite outstanding and great on a hot day. Lots of citrus and tropical fruit in nose. Clear and gold. Taste is light clean and fruity.

gold, light amber color; nice aroma - floral, citrusy hops; lots of crisp, citrusy hops on a light, bready malt base; nice dry, bitter, citrusy finish

Clean lemony aroma, I even detected some pine. Golden with an off white head. Tastes well made and is drinkable, although lagers are not my style. Just enough hops to make it interesting. Palate was very good and dense for the style. I would drink this again.

Light straw and lots of nothing like a nihilish dream. Golden pour with ok head. Crisp finish. Tap at beer festival.

Meh. This is the type of beer people refer to when they say they don’t like "beer." Higher quality than the macros but doesn’t really do anything to distinguish itself. Muddled generic grain profile is a touch sweet, with light hopping. Boring.

FROTHINGSLOSH (7879) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 21, 2017
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright golden color with a huge foamy soapy orange-white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was grassy and perfumey. The flavor was bready, grassy, perfumey and a touch nutty. Medium length finish. Medium body. Not good.

Rating #2340 - 2016.02.18 - Bottle from Shmaltz mixer @beerblast. Clear yellow pour with a lingering white foam. Aroma is vegetal, grains, malts. Taste is a little dry, grains and vegetal, but quite smooth on the finish. Ever wary of the "craft lager", but this isn’t bad - a well executed mild hopped pale lager.

gripweed57 (2574) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - JAN 6, 2017
12 ounce bottle. Hazy, tawny golden color, topped by a moderate sized creamy white head. Light grainy malt nose has hints of citrus peel. Flavor has sweet grainy malt notes. A bit of lemon and rye malt comes through upfront. Slightly sweet with honey like notes in middle. Citrus hops in dry finish.

Dorwart (2595) - Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA - JAN 1, 2017
Good sized off-white head of fine bubbles. Pretty decent head retention. Light citrus and cereal in the aroma with some lemon and straw. Color is a slightly hazy golden orange. Zippy in the mouth from the active carbonation. Moderate bitterness with more lemon peel, rice, spicy hops and bitter orange. Mild alcohol presence. Lingering bitterness and lemon. A decent lager.
