Pours a beautiful dark brown with a one-finger dark tan head. Aroma is super rich molasses, heavy malts, fig paste, & port wine (noticeable alcohol). Taste is off the charts. Dried black figs & molasses up front, really heavy mouthfeel, and smooth chocolate malts for a decadent finish. Absolutely beautiful! Heathen (1500) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - SEP 16, 2012
THOUGHTS: Wow. Almost too many flavors and aroma going on at first. This might have been the most complex thing (not just beer) I ever tasted. This beer was worth a thousand flavors. Hid alcohol incredibly well. I’d love to age some of this for a long time. You’d think all the flavors in the blend would blend together, but this really tasted like you were tasting at least six different beers.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark brown that was basically opaque black in the glass with a small, beige head that kept a thin sheet and left good lacing. The aroma had moderate caramel, chocolate, chocolate syrup; hints of coffee; light citrus hops; grape; raisin; prune; dark and sour cherries; port; wood; butterscotch; slight vanilla; a little bourbon and whiskey; and other dark fruit. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and lightly sour; while the finish was heavily sweet; moderately sour; lightly acidic; and slightly bitter with and average to long duration. There was bourbon, caramel, sour fruit, whiskey, rye, chocolate, coffee, citrus hops, sour rye, vanilla, a little roasted malt, prunes, raisin, dark sour cherry, toffee, butterscotch, and a little wood. The full body was creamy and then a little oily with soft carbonation and a slightly astringent and alcoholic finish. WildcardZone (6) - Montana, USA - JUL 9, 2013 does not count
A wonderful Jewbelation and another grand slam for my love of heavy, complex beers!

Aroma is fruit and very tart, similar to a lambic. The flavor is fruit, mild sweetness, malts and an alcoholic/warm finish. ads135 (5207) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - MAY 31, 2013
Can beers get more complicated than this? The Hebrewers are constantly trying to push that envelope... Still, it paid off. A nice blend that manages to present most of the best characteristics of its many ingredients, inc. the funkiness and rye in particular.

Black with tan head. Malty aroma of whiskey and oak. Has an unexpectedly and outstanding sour flavor yet its also got the sweet molasses, dark fruit and toffee of a bourbon aged barley wine. Awesome and very unique flavor profile
