Honestly this isnt what i thought it was when i bought it, so that probably affects my rating. I was excited to take this bottle home from the shop, thinking RyePA barrel aged. its actually a blend of several beers (says so on the label). The defining characteristic of this brew is sweet. too sweet. i really wanted some hop bitterness to bite back, but there just isnt any. From aroma, to start to finish to middle all i get is fresh barleywine. I’m surprised to get next to zero of the wood aged taste. I love wood aged beers. thats the primary reason i bought the Funky Jewbelation. sort of a let down. perhaps the 3 is too high...

22oz bottle, shared with friends. Bottled 3/6/12. Nice minimal tan head. Little lace. Opaque dark brown color. Dark fruit taste. Definitely kind of funky. Raisin. Molasses. Mild sweet taste... A lot of the Jewbelation 15 is coming through in this (which I wasn’t a huge fan of) but thankfully it’s not as thick or heavy. Bigger body, but the light carbonation lets it be dry in a way. Aftertaste is weird because the general aroma is weird. Nice light sweet taste. It’s... Ok.

Bottle, pours solid black with a huge tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, wood chips. Flavour is very sweet, with coca cola, metallic or iodine. Medium-bodied, cloying, got a blocked nose so may be inaccurate.

Bomber from Total Wine, Durham. As the label indicates, there’s more than a bit too much going on in this beer (at least for my tastes). Dark, oily, and thick pour, with a healthy foam head on top of that menacing body. Nose of sharp booze, intense tartness from both fruit and wet wood, and strong herbal and sweet qualities in abundance. That’s more or less the clash that assaults your mouth in what is a potent mix of BSA qualities with massive fruit vibe and a bit of hop harshitude. There were moments when it was enjoyable but more when it felt like a shakedown.

Looks nice, dark and viscous. Good head. Nose is a bit hard to pin down. Attack was very sweet, almost syrupy. Finish is wet and sweet. Not my thing.

Was not a big fan of this one...let it age about 8 months and it was WAY too sweet and syrupy. We had a bunch of people here trying different beers and everyone agreed. Boo

Dark brown pour with a thin beige that fades quickly. Aroma is vanilla, molasses, dates, and some wood. Taste is very sweet. Molasses, dates, vanilla, and a hint of booze. Heavy, syrupy, flat texture. Took some time to get through this one.

Brown body, mostly clear with a small collar. Wood, booze, sweet malt, fruit, raisins, earth. Lots going on, but imbalanced and is too much for the palate to decipher. Lacking cohesion. Best shared with a group.
