Draft served in a snifter at Heavy Riff. Pours a deep brown with amber edges and a small beige head. Abundant berry fruit in this one, along with plums, chocolate, figs, raisins, vanilla, caramel, oak, bourbon, and a bit of rye spice. Medium-full bodied, with a tart, funky, sweet mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. A little bit of umami character on the palate, too. Yet another complex, interesting, satisfying barrel aged beer from these guys. marcus (10232) - Sacramento, California, USA - SEP 3, 2013
Bottle from City Beer. Pours dark brown with a nice tan head and a plum and treacle aroma. There is a full-bodied dark molasses and raisin flavor with a sweet alcohol finish. onceblind (9708) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 26, 2014
Black pour under a generous foamy light khaki head. Dark and sultry nose of dark toffee and figs with a sour woody char barrel with some brown sugary bourbon and plum and lacto bacteria. Big dark and sweet flavor with raisin and figs and dark malty brown sugar with deep caramel and a light sour twang. Lovely deep dark sweet malts with a lush, stone fruit flavor and dry sour twangy finish with a rye whiskey barrel finish. Amazing. Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAY 22, 2013
22oz bottle (release #8) pours with a nice dark body that supports a thin short lived mocha head. The aroma has big smooth bourbon booze notes that mix with a bourbon sweetened tart rye whiskey note as well as a light degree of sweet dark fruity esters in the background. The taste is similar as the sweet smooth bourbon tugs and pulls on the tart, almost red wine, barrel like rye whiskey notes. Between the big barrel notes I get pleasing yet too brief and mild sweet kettle caramelization and sweet dark fruity esters. This offers up lots and lots of barrel but the play between the sweet smooth bourbon and tart dry rye whiskey works. SudsMcDuff (8429) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - SEP 26, 2013
Pretty funky i guess, pours a deep brown.. Lacing is bully! ..balanced malts and tartness .. . Mouth is quite full .. . Pretty interesting brew .. . . Whenever I tell the cashier to ‘keep the change’, it takes everything in my power not to call them a filthy animal.

Pours dark brown with a medium sized tan head and good lacing. Aroma is sour up front then bourbon, vanilla and chocolate. Flavors are roasted malts, whiskey, wood, vanilla, chocolate and molasses
Very nice and tasty. I sipped on this all night, I didn’t want it to end.
22 oz. bottle Batch 2, bottled on 2/18/2013. Dark, muddy brown black color with a small layer of white head without retention in the snifter. Aroma is interesting. Light funky berries, dull whiskey with wood barrel. The flavor get even better. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - NOV 26, 2013
Flavor starts with black berries and slightly tart through the center of the sip. The tart berry is smoothed out by subtle whiskey and oak wood. The body is leaning on the full with a soft creamy texture. This flavor is really interesting and I had to read the label and the pomegranate now makes a lot of sense in the flavor. It is extremely easy to drink and I have to remind myself not to chug this like "Pom" juice aged in whiskey barrels. Overall, the layer of depth and complexity took my completely off guard. Jeez, this is nice.
draft at Blue Monk. brownish ruby pour. lots of dark fruits, sour cherry, balsamic, tart berry notes. red wine like flavors, plus some fruity sweetness, jammy red wine and some tart/sourness. kind of boozy, slightly incohesive, still decent Iphonephan (6989) - Jackson Hole/McLean, Virginia, USA - SEP 23, 2013
From a 22 oz bottle shared at home. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of dark fruits. This one is interesting. Plenty of sourness along side the oaky barrel aged flavors. Does not really work for me. But not a drain pour either.
