22oz bottle 4/26/13 (Binny’s Naperville)-50° in Snifter-Pours a dark brown with a small tan covering for a head. Aroma of dried fruit, roasted malt, caramel, fig, and bourbon. Taste of grape juice, dried fruit, toffee, bourbon, vanilla, pomegranate, and rye. This full bodied brew has a lot going on but is still great tasting and it KICKS ASS. Bottle. Dark brown with a thick dense light tan head. Aroma of toffee, vanilla, oak, citrus, rye and fruity yeast esters. Flavor of bourbon, rye, oaky vanilla, fruity esters, cherries and mild cocoa. Medium to full body with a soft smooth mouth feel. Unique blend of beers with a great barrel character. I was hoping for more malt, because the alcohol was not well hidden. 12 oz bottle with a 22 oz label. Dark brown with a few flecks of froth. Nose is full on bretty funk verging on red wine vinegar. Juicy medium body with a tang. Taste is pomegranate, molasses, sherry, bourbon, grapes and wood. The sourness knits it all together but still too much to jive. drjay44 (3678) - Salida, Colorado, USA - APR 7, 2013
650 ml. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, beige head, with moderate lacing, over a clear, dark brown/black (SRM 40) body....nose is fruits including pomegranate, plum, raisin, brown sugar, hints of whiskey....taste is sweet with tones of molasses, pomegranate, plum, brown sugar, raisin, hints of coffee, cocoa, chocolate, light whiskey, vinous tones, finishing with light bitterness.....mouth feel thick, quite sticky, mildly astringent, alcohol warmth present, carbonation adds light tingle. This is a rich, very sweet, complex, voluptuous beer, that is reminiscent of many dessert wines. It would not be good in a desert. The sweetness, although with many layers, dominates. This is not a beer for those who like dry, hoppy, clean finishing beers. BJCP 8/3/15/4/7 dfinney23 (3248) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 25, 2013
Sounds like it should be a muddled mess but this is some expertly blended stuff. Quite fruity with plum and apple, butterscotch and oak.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2014 Draft at Moriartys. Pitch black pour that started with a tight white head that mostly disappeared. Big swath of flavors. Coffee and chocolate definitely, but deep dark fruit seems most prevalent. Blunt sour funk surrounding notes of dried blueberries, strawberries and blackberries. Raisins, dates and prunes as well but, to me, the berry flavors are stronger. Some ash and spice as well. Thick body nearly coats the tongue. The bitters balance out the sugars. Big like a Stout, but style-wise very different. Feels like a chewy malt Port cordial. baraciisch (3163) - California, USA - FEB 8, 2014
Dark black in color... Aroma of coffee, funk, tartness... Flavor is huge... Coffee, chocolate are extremely prevalent and balance the tartness... Amazing

Amber red colour. Malty sweet aroma, some heavily caramelized crystal and toasted malt with a sweet cherry fruitiness and a spicy hop bouquet throughout. Pine and earthy/mildly resinous hops. Sweet malts up front balance with the strong hoppiness later on. A bit of honeyed character. Some pine and black pepper on the finish. thorongil2 (2996) - , Ontario, CANADA - MAR 19, 2014
(tap) clear dark brown colour with a small brown head; aromas of wet wood, dried fruit; rich, well balanced flavour with well hidden alcohol, very nice suprchunk (2994) - Crestview, Florida, USA - AUG 15, 2013
UPDATED: AUG 19, 2013 Dark brown pour. More black. Small tan head. No lacing. Nice aroma of acetic sourness and molasses. Maybe too much molasses. Taste is the same with chocolate. A bit sour but way too much sweetness.
