Poured from a well-aged bottle. Deep purple-black with a football-colored head like spun sugar. Aroma is complex, as you might expect: dark cherry, raisin, oak, cola, vinegar, cocoa, smoke. The flavor has more acidity in the form of balsamic vinegar, lemon, cherry, sharp oak, toffee and green apple. Sharp, lingering acidity and a touch of astringency. Creamy medium body, mild CO2. A smooth, complex blend of ales and lagers.

22oz bottle. Dark brown with a thick dense light tan head. Aroma of toffee, vanilla, oak, citrus and fruity yeast esters. Flavor of oaky vanilla, fruity esters, cherries and mild cocoa. Medium to full body with a soft smooth mouth feel. Really good beer, unique blend of beers with a great barrel character.

22oz of batch no. 2 (1492 cases) bottled on 2/18/2013 @ 55° into TeKu; Coffee bean body beneath a tightly structured 2.5” khaki head fading to a solid ring and a few islands with several spatters of lace and alcohol; Playful bourbon and rye whiskey complimented by juicy red and purple fruits backed by layers of caramel chocolate, coffee, black licorice, and creamy vanilla barrell nuances, cohesive aromatics and flavors from a silky, highly coating medium-heavy mouth lending a touch of warmth and tartness to play off solid sweetness; lively, interesting and delicious

You’d never figure that a blend of these beers would end up as this deliciously tart concoction. The aroma is a bit funky with some dried fruit, sour apple, and cocoa. The flavor is initially very tart but raisins, apples, cinnamon sugar, and some red wine tannin. Really interesting and complex.

Funky, bizarre, weird, fantastic, complex, awful, disgusting you decide? Great great nose of sour lemon and cherry with nice sour barrel aroma. A big very dark sour. Tastes a little wild. I like it.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2014 Draft at Moriartys. Pitch black pour that started with a tight white head that mostly disappeared. Big swath of flavors. Coffee and chocolate definitely, but deep dark fruit seems most prevalent. Blunt sour funk surrounding notes of dried blueberries, strawberries and blackberries. Raisins, dates and prunes as well but, to me, the berry flavors are stronger. Some ash and spice as well. Thick body nearly coats the tongue. The bitters balance out the sugars. Big like a Stout, but style-wise very different. Feels like a chewy malt Port cordial.

(tap) clear dark brown colour with a small brown head; aromas of wet wood, dried fruit; rich, well balanced flavour with well hidden alcohol, very nice

22 oz. bottle Batch 2, bottled on 2/18/2013. Dark, muddy brown black color with a small layer of white head without retention in the snifter. Aroma is interesting. Light funky berries, dull whiskey with wood barrel. The flavor get even better.

Flavor starts with black berries and slightly tart through the center of the sip. The tart berry is smoothed out by subtle whiskey and oak wood. The body is leaning on the full with a soft creamy texture. This flavor is really interesting and I had to read the label and the pomegranate now makes a lot of sense in the flavor. It is extremely easy to drink and I have to remind myself not to chug this like "Pom" juice aged in whiskey barrels. Overall, the layer of depth and complexity took my completely off guard. Jeez, this is nice.

Bottle, shared with Parksy, phantomhennes, TvM, and heavylaevy. Murky dark amber brown. Funky malty nose. Flavours of chocolate, brown bread, sour cherries, barnyard. Malty, funky, modestly sour-- a combination that really resonates with me.

22 mar 2013, bottle. Black. Nose is sour, bourbon aged barley wine. Med/full body and mildly fizzy. Serious alcohol, major bourbon, moderate sour, maple syrup, red fruit. Awesome. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
