Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet bourbon, vanilla, pomegranate and rye aromas. Thick with hot caramel and pit fruit upfront turning to a warming chocolate and pomegranate finish. LiquorHound (25) - Texas, USA - APR 13, 2015
Much different than the 2015 (which was tangy/sour).
Pours a dark black with excellent lacing.
Nose - It has grapes and chocolate notes with a rich maltiness.
Taste - medium (to just below) mouthfeel. It has a nice balance of sweet and bitter with chocolate, dark fruits, grape skins and a charred oak note lingering into the finish.

This beers flavor is unlike any other I have experienced. It should be your first and last beer for the night. Funky is the only way to describe it. blutt59 (6585) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAY 20, 2013
bottled, thanks to bu11zeye, dark brown pour , really nice mix of red wine and malty chocolate, just the right amount of sourness Ibrew2or3 (8860) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAY 22, 2013
22oz bottle (release #8) pours with a nice dark body that supports a thin short lived mocha head. The aroma has big smooth bourbon booze notes that mix with a bourbon sweetened tart rye whiskey note as well as a light degree of sweet dark fruity esters in the background. The taste is similar as the sweet smooth bourbon tugs and pulls on the tart, almost red wine, barrel like rye whiskey notes. Between the big barrel notes I get pleasing yet too brief and mild sweet kettle caramelization and sweet dark fruity esters. This offers up lots and lots of barrel but the play between the sweet smooth bourbon and tart dry rye whiskey works.

22 oz bottle. Bottled 02/18/13 Thick dark brown pour with amber highlights. Thick solid mocha colored head. Strong aroma of bourbon, whisky, sweet caramel, dark fruits, and the barrels. Taste is much of the same. Super sweet dark fruits, hint of funk, loads of bourbon. wood, whisky comes in on the finish. Interesting. A little too sweet for my liking. Super dry finish. marcus (10752) - Sacramento, California, USA - SEP 3, 2013
Bottle from City Beer. Pours dark brown with a nice tan head and a plum and treacle aroma. There is a full-bodied dark molasses and raisin flavor with a sweet alcohol finish. SudsMcDuff (8523) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - SEP 26, 2013
Pretty funky i guess, pours a deep brown.. Lacing is bully! ..balanced malts and tartness .. . Mouth is quite full .. . Pretty interesting brew .. . . Whenever I tell the cashier to ‘keep the change’, it takes everything in my power not to call them a filthy animal. phaleslu (10748) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 2, 2013
Draft served in a snifter at Heavy Riff. Pours a deep brown with amber edges and a small beige head. Abundant berry fruit in this one, along with plums, chocolate, figs, raisins, vanilla, caramel, oak, bourbon, and a bit of rye spice. Medium-full bodied, with a tart, funky, sweet mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. A little bit of umami character on the palate, too. Yet another complex, interesting, satisfying barrel aged beer from these guys. Brewdork (234) - Sanford, Florida, USA - JAN 25, 2014
12 oz. bottle (although once again labeled as a 22 oz.) poured into snifter. Pours opaque deep brown with a tinge of ruby coloring and a thin wisp of creamy tan head that quickly subsides. Aroma is sour plums and cherries with notes of wood and leather. Tart flavor up front that transitions nicely into the woody elements and a soy sauce finish. While there’s certainly a lot going on here in the flavor department, neither the sourness or the alcohol is overpowering. Another win from He’Brew.
