Opaque black - brown beer, good tan head. Smooth palate, a little soft. Smooth bourbon with no real heat or spice, quite fruity and well barrel rounded. A little rye tang in there. Smooth barrel wood and vanilla. Malt cream and a whisper of caramel. It’s all very fresh and fruity and vibrant which makes is very easy drinking indeed. A joy!

Tap at Freshcraft Denver - 02/06/12. Dark mahogony brown with tan head. Dark fruis on the nose, prunes, figs, dates allied to molasses and malts. Taste follows nose allied to being quite sweet but balanced by sour notes. Fairly full bodied and thick, minimal carbonation, very drinkable with a boozey finish.

22 oz. bottle, pours a very dark brown (near black) with a reddish tinge and big tan head. Aroma of lots of rye upfront, cola, charred malts, burnt caramel and dark fruits. Flavour is very sweet with a melange of different flavours - coca cola, rye, caramel, some sweetened dark fruits, and candied sugar - becomes cloying the more you drink. Fairly complex palate, medium-to-full bodied, soft carbonation and way too high sweetness. The sweetness kills whatever complexity this beer possesses - sickly sweet.

Dark amber pour with an off-white head. Nice aroma of vanilla, bourbon, chocolate, and dark fruits. The funkiness adds some leathery notes and a slight dryness. Nice sweetness up front on the palate. Caramel, chocolate, bourbon, and vanilla. Lots of wood, light Brett, and a drying leather note. Plenty of dark fruit, particularly raisins.

Bottle at Paul’s. Pours black with brown head. Nose/taste of sour malt, cocoa, rye, whiskey barrel, dark fruits, oak and vanilla. Lots of sour dark fruits but not overwhelming. Medium body. Solid but a little unbalanced at times.

Draught at Rattle N Hum. Almost black - brown head. Sticky body. Sweetness. Sourish. Bourbon. Nutty. Fruity. Red berries. Glue notes. Raisins dried fruits. Licorice. Ok - a bit too simple.

Bomber from The Davis Beer Shoppe in Davis, CA. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. The aroma of sweet booze is strong. Some light vanilla. Touch of dark rum. Full bodied. Flavor is dark fruit (like cherry and plum), vanilla, chocolate, light rum, treacle, and perhaps light maple. There’s a lot going on in here; there’s even a light sour note (very light). It isn’t very sweet, feels like it’s going to go dry, but it doesn’t. When I try, I think I can find astringent oak. Heat is not an issue. This is either a complexly marvelous blend or something of a mess. I’m seeing mysterious graphics in the smear left after the head left. This inspires me to affirm this is a complexly marvelous blend.

Bottle. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that lasted and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex toasted malt, funk and wood alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted complex sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid complex beer.
