COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the new recipe replacing the original He’Brew Genesis ale. Balanced between a West Coast style pale and amber ale with just enough malt sweetness to highlight a flurry of hop aroma and flavor. Witness the evolution of our original creation.

Bottle pour. Opaque, medium reddish brown. A half inch of white head, with lacing. Canned tangerines meet the nose first, but dampens quickly. Mild toast and apples cider. Sweet, seemingly by design. Medium to light body. Malt forward on the taste, rounded by some orange hop. A bit bland with a kvass like aftertaste.

Draft. Nose is a dusty malt character that reminds me of Munich malt. A slightly grassy hop but not that prevalent.

THOUGHTS: Tons of hop flavors and aromas. Tons of flavor in general for a lower ABV beer. Just enough malt to keep it from being overwhelmingly bitter. One of the best balancing acts between easy drinking, sessionable ale and very flavorful, hoppy beer that isn’t overly bitter. I would definitely recommend this. TECHNICAL: Tried 2/22/2013. Bottle. Poured a murky, dark copper like an old penny with an average, off-white head that kept a decent sheet. The aroma contained light to moderate dark bread, toasted and nutty malt, and caramel; heavy pine hops; and moderate resin and grapefruit hops. The initial flavor was slightly sweet and mod bitter; while the finish was mod sweet and heavily bitter with and average to long duration. There was caramel, toasted malt, nutty malt, pine hops, grapefruit and grapefruit rind hops, resinous hops a little orange hops and a little darker bread. The just about medium body was a little dry with fizzy and tingly carbonation.

Bottle from Hop City. Pours a transparent amber with beige colored head. Arms of spice upfront with some malts mixed in. Taste is slightly bland, like unsweet tea with a bit of hops. The spice is still there and continually throws me off.

Pours Amber with fluffy beige head. Smell is tea and Amber ale like malt. Taste is very tea like and a bit sweet in finish. Lightly earthy and hoppy. Decent but I don’t like the iced tea flavor in beer.

Bif (2307) - St. Charles, Missouri, USA - JUN 4, 2014
Bottle. Pours a nice amber color with and off white head and some lacing. Aroma is a mixture of malt and citrus with a bit of spice and fruit in the background. Taste of malt, citrus, some spice and bit of fruit. Nice bitterness and a clean finish. Fairly medium body and smooth texture. Easy drinker that goes down way too easy.

Bottle. Cloudy/chunky amber with medium beige head. Evidently not filtered (hop chunks). Aroma of resinous hops, simcoe hops, caramel, and toasted malt. Medium body, biscuit/bread notes upfront, medium hop bitterness, caramel, and a clean finish.

Bottle at home. Pours lightly hazy dark amber with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is toast and grain malt, earthy, pine, and resin hops with pear and apple esters and grassy notes. Flavor is moderate hops and bitterness, supporting malt, fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
