In the book of Exodus, the ancient Hebrews survived 400 years of bondage before the ultimate supreme court dropped the 10 deadly Plagues on the land of the taskmasters and the head dictator, Pharaoh. Even then, only begrudgingly, did he Let My People Go. The freedom ride across, nay through the sea left a band of wandering nomads broke and suffering, no doubt with a profound hunger – and a mighty thirst. Enter the Manna: a glorious gift to nourish body and soul. Manna was said to combine the tastes of everything most delicious to each individual, depending on their desire. And as the Good Book says, Each shall gather according to one’s need and shall enjoy a double portion for thine chosen day of rest. Manna fed the entire tribe, but tradition suggests the righteous received manna ground in a heavenly mill, while the wicked had to grind it below for themselves. Hear o’ Tribe of Shmaltz – Behold: A celebration of the flower of the craft beer revolution! A golden opportunity to feed your inner hop head and rejoice in HOP MANNA, our newest delicacy of the modern He’brew Beer family. L’Chaim! Dry Hopped with Centennial, Cascade and Citra (Centennial and Cascade in Batch 4).

22 ounce bottle purchased at Bel-Air in Woodland, CA. The aroma on this a little spicy, cheesy, and herbal. Mostly stale hop notes. Light toasted malts. Not much exciting here. Scantly hazy orange body with a medium, fairly strong cream-colored head present. Starts rather pointed with a good amount of bitter hop character. Again, I get this funky cheesy character to the hops. Light toffee malt sweetness in the middle, before this becomes a little more herbal, earthy, and bitter. I suppose this is well-balanced, but the aroma is severely lacking, and the hops just don’t seem as vibrant as they should. Seems kind of "dirty".

June 27, 2012 - bomber shared with blankboy c/o B. Clear coppery gold with a smallish lasting creamy/fizzy off-white head. Smells floral with solid cereal grain and a touch of spice, not much alcohol - light but refreshing ... not as aggressively sweet and boozy as many of their offerings. Quite bitter tasting, but that fades to a simpler mix of strong cereal grain and lighter floral/herbal bitterness, not too much alcohol. Average body, tons of carbonation, medium-quick finish, bitter linger and not very sweet at all - I kept expecting it to get boozy and/or cloying.

Clear, amber colored body, with a big, two finger thick head full of craggy foam. The smell was very hoppy indeed, evoking grapefruit and mandarin orange slices. The taste was a citric and bitter affair, and very clean. The malt backbone was a little nondescript, and I think this could have used a bit more body. If this was ever tweaked up to a DIPA, it would be phenomenal.

Pours a pretty peach colour. Hoppy, floral aromas...caramel too. Malty and sweet flavours followed by a nice piney, hoppy finish...nice mouthfeel. Very nice.

Subtle carmel and nutty aroma. The color is a murky light honey. The taste was dry, less hoppy than expected and it quickly dissipated.

Drank at GABF 2012. Pours a light copper color with a medium white head. A sweet fruity nose with some light apricot. The flavor is a smooth bitter hop bite with, light pine, decent.

Sampled at GABF on Saturday October 13, second session

Pours golden with nice head. Very heavy citrus, some pine and acidity. Flavor follow aroma, with strong hop bite. Light for a double, but very good. Like this much better than Lenny's. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber. Pours amber with a two finger white head. Big hop aroma with citrus and pine flavors and all good things that IPAs should be. Really well done.

Maris (1596) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - OCT 8, 2012
From a 1 Pt 6 Fl Oz bottle on 8/10/2012. Pours a medium to dark golden with a big fluffy white head. Has a very pleasant floral, fruity, resiny hop aroma. The flavour follows suit, with sweet citrus fruit (especially orange and mandarin) up front, followed by a big sticky, resiny, piney hop bitterness, with just a touch of grapefruit. Not too much maltiness is evident, but this is none the less a lovely, well balanced fruit/hop driven IPA.
