Bottle: Thanks, Kevin. Dark brown, nearly black body with a thin, light-tan foam that fades to a thin collar very quickly. Aroma has notes of chocolate, anise, burnt caramel, light oxidation, sherry, light earth, burnt toast, buckwheat, light toffee, grains, booze... Wow, smells big. Taste has lots of caramel, toasted bread, toffee glazed toasted pecans, mild anise, a bit of sherry-like oxidation & booze, gristly toast, sweet black cherry, dark prunes & dates, very mild vanilla, a slight hint of papery oxidation towards the finish, & some lingering heat. Sweet. Very sweet. But manageable. Not bad, but certainly a strong & heavy motherfucker. Not bad. Butters (4059) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - DEC 6, 2014
Sampled at screens and suds 2014. Dark brown pour, ring off off-white head. Soy sauce, teriyaki, figs, plums, dates, raisins. Alcohol has totally faded from flavor, but still warms the nose a biy. Boozy warming. Very sweet, marginally cloying. jtclockwork (16663) - , New Jersey, USA - OCT 1, 2014
Bottle. Shared by Pete. Pours dark brown tan head. Nose/taste of raisin, fig, dark fruit and molasses. Medium body. vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - SEP 30, 2014
Bottle. Thanks Pete... Brown pour with tan head. Dark malty aromas, light sweetness, other dark tones. Sweet, raisins, malty, not as strong, but probably milded over time. superspak (5669) - Michigan, USA - AUG 20, 2014
22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on late 2011. Pours pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big molasses, toffee, toast, caramel, dark bread, brown sugar, raisin, cherry, prune, fig, chocolate, cocoa, tobacco, leather, light smoke, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roasted/bready malt and fruity yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of huge molasses, toffee, toast, caramel, dark bread, brown sugar, raisin, cherry, prune, fig, chocolate, cocoa, tobacco, leather, light smoke, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Slight herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of molasses, toffee, toast, dark bread, brown sugar, raisin, cherry, prune, fig, chocolate, cocoa, tobacco, leather, herbal, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and balance of dark/roasted/bready malt and fruit yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/fruitiness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, moderately slick, and lightly syrupy/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is extremely well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an incredible strong ale! All around outstanding complexity and balance of dark/roasted/bready malt and fruity yeast ester flavors; and extremely smooth to sip on for the huge ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Thanks to drowland for the share. Big beer. Dark black oily pour. Aroma is toffee, dark fruit, and booze. Taste is a sweet wallop with plenty of booze, fruit, caramel, and hops to make in interest. Hides 15% decently well. Full bodied, of course. jbrana (640) - NASHVILLE, Tennessee, USA - FEB 9, 2014
Very sweet with a lot going on. Strong roasted malt and caramel malt flavors. Has some slight fruity notes and some slight tartness. Niko100 (2930) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 6, 2014
Dark brown/black color; Medium creamy body; Aroma of toasted sweet malt, caramel/toffee, chocolate, & some dark fruit; Flavor of roasted sweet malt, dark chocolate, molasses/syrup, caramel, and dark fruit; Warm finish; Fairly well balanced; Considering the alcohol, it’s well hidden; Overall, definitely on the sweet side - but pretty decent strong ale. zoucrew102 (1911) - - DEC 21, 2013
Bomber, cellared about a year. Sweet dark fruit aroma with some toffee and a bit of booze. Pours black with a garnet tint, thin, tan head and some lacing. Rich dark fruit flavor with some toffee. Great sticky mouthfeel. Finishes smooth with just a bit of booze that provides a nice warming feeling that's great on a cold winter night. Dark fruit lingers on the palate on the aftertaste. Very good.
