Dark & syrupy poured from the bottle, with a pronounced coffee aroma. On tasting, add some chocolate, with a sweet finish tsd08460 (1167) - Marshall, Virginia, USA - APR 19, 2015

Yow. Heavy but I like it! onceblind (9676) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 23, 2016
Deep plummy brown, and a very thin light tan head. Big nose of port and earthy berries and deep English toffee malt. Gigantic flavor with a load of earthy toffee, huge sweetness, some port tones, deep semisweet cocoa. Booze, stone fruit, a little plum and date, and warm fruity dark malt. stantheman (1050) - British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 6, 2014
A 650 ml bottle from Legacy Liquor in Vancouver. An almost black, slightly translucent beer with beige head and heady dried fruit notes on the nose. Dried fruit and chocolate notes assault the palate. Oh yeah, this is good! Big rich malts here, but a prominent hop note evident as well. Body and mouth feel is thick and oily, and that in a good way. Big winner here! drtbrewster (40) - Arizona, USA - FEB 17, 2014
A huge beer that is big in ABV and comes through, the malt really carries through the palette, I enjoyed this beer and is a must try for all.

Appearance: Jet black with tan head
Aroma: Super malty with notes of port.
Taste: Mutliple layers of flavors. Tons of sweetness upfront with toffee, mocha and star anise. Oaky whisky on the finish. Incredibly well masked alcohol level. Ten percent but 17% now way
Overall: A must try treat I look forward to getting every year.

Pours dark black with small tan head with very little lacing. Aroma of malt, oak, and hops. Taste similar to a barley wine but smoother. Taste of oak with a lingering flavor of alcohol. Very good beer! jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - DEC 22, 2013
Bottle. From notes. Another boozy winner from Hebrew. Super complex, with about 100 different things all clashing together at once. Alcohol is super well hidden for how boozy it really is. Digging it. kidmartinek (4999) - austin, Texas, USA - DEC 29, 2013
Black w/ tan head. Very strong malt aroma where the malty sweetness subdues the alcohol. Some bitterness finishes the aroma. For 17% it comes off as 6. That alone is enough for a 4+ rating and the rest is either history or irrelevant. Gerbeer (3754) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 9, 2014
650 ml bottle. Pour dark brown with moderate head. Rich caramel toffee aroma with roasted malts and cotton candy. Flavors of dark brown sugar, heavily roasted malts, a melange of hops (but not overly bitter), and chicory. More like a thick barley wine. Alcohol is present but nothing like what I expected 17% would bring to the party. Great stuff.
