22oz bomber to a red wine glass. Pours jet black with some mocha head that rapidly dissipates. Aroma is alcohol forward, with bready malt overtones. Taste is gigantic, sweet alcohol explosion with plum and raisin on the finish. Overall, pretty complex for 16%. Happy birthday! Fatehunter (2567) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - FEB 19, 2013
Poured a finger of tan head on a black body.
The aroma is a strong licorice, molasses, and more licorice.
The taste is bold: licorice, molasses and smooth roasted malt. The alcohol is there in the background.
The texture is heavy with low carbonation.
Pretty tasty and hides the 16% pretty well. BelvidereIPA (140) - Belvidere, Illinois, USA - FEB 19, 2013
Tastes like the demonic offspring of an imperial stout and barleywine...in other words, delicious. Very sweet, lots of alcohol on the tongue but it all works. Light the fireplace grab a sniffer glass and enjoy this brew. DerWeg (1681) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 17, 2013
A ridiculously strong dark ASA that seems like a stout on steriods. Bottle thick black pour thick dark tan head loads aromas fruit chocolate and alcohol play into flavors strong alcohol warmth fills the palate good bitterness hops and roast I like the general madness. yarry (528) - Waterdown, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 16, 2013
650ml bottle, 16% a/v.
Very eager to try this so lets go! Pours the deepest black I have ever seen on a beer, with a thick brown head. Looks intense! Aroma is stone fruit, caramel, chocolate, bananas, tons of aromas mixing, very complex! The taste is deep, rich, containing chocolate, nuts, and some smokiness as well. Definitely an alcohol warmth as it goes down into your stomach too! Palate is smooth and rich, but on initial hit a bit boozy for my liking. Overall though an intense and rich beer full of more character than an entire truck full of mainstream beers!

Pours very dark brown color with tan head. Aromas of dark fruits, molasses toasted malts with hints of citrus. Very sweet dark fruit and molasses flavors with some lightly roasted malts and citrus. Quite boozy ( well, it is 16% ABV). Full body with moderate carbonation and a syrupy mouthfeel. herrbrown1974 (427) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 15, 2013
Bottle. Thick pitch black, motor oil appearance surprised me. Aroma of coffee, molasses, raisins, dark fruit, mild pine. Thick an oily mouthfeel. For 16%, it’s boozy but not as excessively as I expected. Decent balance and not crazy given the amount of elements at play. Sweet up front with a medium bitter finish. I really enjoyed this. Giving it a year would only make it better. blackmurder (236) - Whitaker, Oregon, USA - FEB 10, 2013
Pretty amazing stuff. Very boozy tasting but still palatable. Taste is phenomenal for a 16% beer. Sweet with hints of plums, maple syrup, molasses, and honey. MadDogMD (215) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - FEB 10, 2013
Was worried that this would be a big mess of a brew... and it kinda was. Nice nose of dark roast & chocolate, some coffee, dark pit fruits & bitter hops. Flavor was similar, except more bitter, piney hops & a big alcohol burned that just didn’t work for me. Maybe I’ll cellar 1 for a year. AdamChandler (5051) - Enfield, New Hampshire, USA - FEB 9, 2013
Can’t remember how I get this one. Enjoyed in a wine glass at 50F
A - Poured a pitch black almost oily appearance with a 2 finger head.
S - Tons of roasted malts, coffee and some licorice.
T - WOw booze-bomb! it burns to drink it. Tons of chocolate, coffee and more spices like licorice. Uber sweet start to finish. Lots of smokiness
M - Heavy body, medium carb..so boozy
O - This beer is pretty interesting. Very complex but oh boy is it boozy and smoky. needs some time in the bottle for sure.
