On tap at Hops and Pie poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering brown head. Aromas of toffee, plum, raisin, dark chocolate and light carmel. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of toffee, carmel, plum, raisin and molasses with a smooth lingering molasses finish. ngeunit1 (1555) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 9, 2012
A - Pours a dark brown-black with a finger of frothy chocolate head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of sweet caramel, dark caramel, and chocolate malts with dark fruits, citrus, pine, and grassy hops, with some darker chocolate, coffee, and richer toffee notes and some booze.
T - Starts off with a mix of caramel, dark caramel, and chocolate malts with some darker chocolate, dark fruits, citrus hops, some bitterness, and brown sugar. Through the middle, some coffee comes through with some molasses, residual sugars, vanilla, sweet toffee, pine and grassy hops, and some more fruity flavors. The finish is a mix of dark caramel malts with dark fruits, milk chocolate, some darker cocoa, coffee, brown sugar, citrus and pine hops, molasses, and some booze.
M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a warming and sweet finish.
D - Very drinkable. Incredibly complex, but at the same time refined and balanced. robforbes (2242) - Bremerton, Washington, USA - DEC 9, 2012

A real strong, sweet beer lots of alcohol taste, real complex, and pretty tough to get through, a real sipper. Overall pretty good. Pound this on an empty stomach and holy shiite your buzzed! Hatzilla (14) - San Francisco, California, USA - DEC 8, 2012
Pours black with a thick tan head. Aroma is malts, coffee, cotton candy and licorice. Tastes of rich malt; also notes of plum, coffee and cocoa powder. Palate is very oily and slick. A nice strong beverage. Great for sipping and sharing. I thought this tasted and looked like an imperial stout but a great beer either way. Mazeltov!

Dull smells of roasted coffee and malt. Sweet taste and thick. Slight funk on tthe aftertaste. Great beer. Cybercat (5833) - Georgia, USA - DEC 8, 2012
Strong aroma is malty, woody, a little syrupy. Pours a deep coffee brown with a fairly thick, if not too persistent tan head. Flavor has molasses, roast malt and woody hops notes with more than a hint of miso - and an alcohol bite like an angry pit bull. It is on the sweet side, but not grossly sweet. Texture has very firm, oily, syrupy body, though fizz level leaves a bit to be desired. Whoa, it’s already hit me like a speeding MARTA bus! Finish is lip-smacking, woody, malty, syrupy. A perfect beer to drink on the first day of Hanukkah, even if you’re not Jewish. Well, I have some good friends who are Jewish, and that’s no lie. shrubber85 (11402) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - DEC 8, 2012
Bottle. Prune, barley malt, and alcohol aroma. Black with moderate head. Sweet prune followed by strong herbal bitterness and intense alcohol finish. Very boozy. queenholly (3623) - South Whitley, Indiana, USA - DEC 8, 2012
Bottle. Big boozy prune and molasses aroma. Black with a small brown head. Prune, anise, molasses, and very hot booze flavor. Burnt coffee in the finish. Full body with a pretty intense alcohol burn. Alcohol was overwhelmingly harsh, and this one would definitely benefit from some aging. Peacehammer (624) - California, USA - DEC 8, 2012
Big chocolate cacao nose. And lots of malt aroma. Viscous thickness, which is to be expected given all the malts. Huge chocolate flavor, with some mid palate alcohol, and then bitter chocolate and coffee to finish. I was pleasantly surprised by this beer, and will definitely grab a bottle to store for a couple years.
