So far my all time favorite high gravity beer. One bottle does the trick. wonderful mix of lots of grain and hops variety. this beer was worth every penny. I would love to get a home brew recipe for this one.

It's funny people say this is so boozy. Anybody that can read will notice its made to be overkill. If you can handle the complexity then it's perfect. So much going on. Burnt malts in the nose with some candi sugar then the flavor just blasts your senses and the finish is like taking a shot of rum, vodka and whiskey blended together with melted Carmel taffy. If you already have hair on your chest or would like to grow some seek this out.

One of my favorite beer series. Pours a dark brown like motor oil with lots of legs and lacing. Coffee colored head. Aroma is not as strong as I remembered in the 15, but still sweet with lots of malts. Taste is strong, malty with some muted hop flavor. Alcohol contents is strong but rather muted for its high content. Excellent beer! Butters (4059) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Sampled with Kristen on Christmas Eve 2012. Mahogany pour with light tan ample head. Amazing. i don’t know what else to say. Such an amazing brew. Nothing even close to to 16% alcohol. Sweet and malty and dark and uber rich and fig and raisin and candi sugar. Surprinsing amount of bitterness as it finishes, but not as in hops. More of an earthy bitterness. Very awesome beer. And totally love the label. CapFlu (5129) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 28, 2012
(650ml bottle) Purchased at Hillside Liquors. Pours a small brown foam head atop a black body. Molasses aroma and bourbon whiskey, burnt brown sugar. Vanilla, wood Oak cask, heavy dark malts and burning alcohol. Last time I had an high ABV beer like this was Avery Beast which polluted my palate for days - this Hebrew beer however is nice. Hidden alcohol behind acres of malt, honey and bitter coffee. This beer is fantastic, absolutely wonderfully concocted. Kudos!

Out the bottle it’s seriously dark chocolate brown, nearly black, with some ruby tone and gradually settling sticky brown foam. Very thick and oily. Aromas of booze, heavy caramel and chocolate, pine and smoke. Wow supersweet, bittersweet, roasty caramel chocolate, espresso sweet. The carbonation is gentle but persistent. I’ve had heavier brews with less alcohol, but this is still midnight in a bottle. It’s full flavored and fully coats tongue, mouth, and throat. It tastes like fine espresso with a kick of caramelly burnt sugar. Alcohol numbs tongue and senses. What a killer celebration beer! It’s huge, bold, potent! Bottle from Pacific Liquor: Poured a dark blackish brown color with a thick formation of foam head which stuck around for few minutes before eventually dying down. Aroma is deep with a boozy whiff of alcohol that has minor traces of cognac or bourbon whiskey. The drink delivers a lethal dosage of boozy alcohol yet has been gracefully matched with a heaping serving of sweet syrupy malts so that this doesn’t take like hard liquor. Extremely smooth considering the high ABV, I just don’t foresee how HeBrew will be able to keep this anniversary series up? bnokk (537) - Lee, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 27, 2014
APPEARANCE - super black with healthy brown head.
NOSE - barley wine style, a bit of alcohol scent.
FLAVOR - Rich and and complex, dark roasty flavors that blend together seamlessly. Would never be able to tell it’s 16%.
NOTES - Outstanding beer, with tremendous flavor depth.

Pretty amazing stuff. Very boozy tasting but still palatable. Taste is phenomenal for a 16% beer. Sweet with hints of plums, maple syrup, molasses, and honey. doublebock (558) - California, USA - FEB 23, 2013
Black with light brown head. Malty aroma of dark fruit, chocolate and bourbon. Rich and malty with complex layers of flavors going on here: raisins, cocoa, and butterscotch . Finishes with some coffee grinds.
