Aroma is dark fruit and a noticeable alcohol presence. The flavor is caramel/butter scotch, malts, dark fruit and some alcohol in the finish. Interesting ale, unique. drunkenpolack (319) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - FEB 1, 2012
12 pours a dark brown color (of course =) with a very small amount of head but lacing around the glass. Aroma took me by surprise here and loved it. A very sweet aroma. Full of dark fruit, chocolate, caramel, and toffee. Took me by surprise and loved it. In the taste I picked up some smokiness that I didn’t pick up in the aroma. The beer starts off sweet like the aroma but then dives into a burnt second half. Burnt roasted malt. Small amount of heat is still there even after the aging.
Mouthfeel is a little bit on the watery side but still enjoyable. Sticky. patricks110 (2515) - Alberta, CANADA - JAN 24, 2012
A bit to overwhelming and bland. The pour is dark amber with a bright layer of red on the bottom of the glass. The nose is overly potent and alcohol strong with a bit of a roast. A note of earthy roast and mild hops and nuts. The taste is a bit too bland with a big alcohol taste. Too sweet with a nutty, moderately roasted with an earthy almost unpredictable taste. Too intense with the alcohol presence. This one is very average. vandemonian (32) - USA - JAN 5, 2012
Super interesting raisin aroma. Strong sweetness and alcohol. Some coffee. Malty and sweet with a raisin flavour flavour from the crystal malt. Sweet brown sugar finish. arminjewell (9689) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - DEC 28, 2011
I wish this wasn’t a bad bottle, but I have to rate it as such. Poured out of bottle from 2010, aroma was full on DMS, some hints of booze, oxidized caramel, toffee, hints of dark fruit and slight grassy notes. Taste was also very DMS/cooked corn forward, odd flavor to have in a beer like this but there was also some toffee and caramel, hints of molasses and some slight grass. Hope to try a good bottle some day!

Draft. Pours a dark ruby/brown/black. Big whisky and wine notes in the nose with vanilla that has an aged quality. Taste is very pleasurably sweet with caramel, figs, bourbon and chocolate. The booze is noticable, but the beer still drinks very smooth. dimenhetfield (2486) - , Florida, USA - OCT 9, 2011
12oz bottle shared by MikeLovesBeer. On my first initial whiff one thing came to mind: Apple Brandy. I figured this would be a hard to finish type beer but has really mellowed out some since it was released. Malts all over the place but not too too sweet. Enjoyable but most definitely a one and done. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - JUL 23, 2011
22oz bottle: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a spotty-lacing beige head. Has a rich dark caramel and vinous whiskey oak nose with a touch of dark fruitiness and citrusy hops. Starts with good fullness and chewy dark malty sweetness well-balanced with resiny bittering hops and oaky complexity before a drier grapefruity hoppy finish with lingering vanilla. A complex and enjoyable brew. fata2683 (2176) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - JUL 20, 2011
bottle thanks to Kyle, pours dark reddish brown with a medium tan head, good lacing. Aroma is boozy/hot with lots of fruity esters and dark vinous notes. Flavor is mild roast, a prickly burning tobacco and some boozy dark fruit notes. obguthr (6525) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - JUL 10, 2011
Bourbon and fudge nose, rather hot. Mahogany, thin yellow head. Full body, chewy. Molasses and bourbon flavor, finishes with horehound. Alcohol is inintrusive.
