Bottle. Amber color, offwhite head. Malty chocolate aroma, a bit unfresh. Roasted malt flavor, a bit too thin. harrisoni (18436) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - FEB 2, 2009
Bottle from Utobeer. Very dark brown colour with thin disappearing head. Some dry malt on aroma, some yeastiness. Mouthfeel is ok, but nothing interesting, flavours are some sour fruit and some dry malt. Bit toasty. Bit of nuttiness I suppose, some drying on tongue on finish. Fine, but rather bland and dull I thought. Not even as interesting as a British premium bitter of this strength. The malts are there, but don’t impart sufficient flavour. No bad or off flavours. Red-accented brown. Fruity nose - raspberry and some chocolate notes. Thin body, light fruitiness and insipid coffee. Not exactly my kind of beer.
12 oz. bottle, pours a dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of sweet candied dried fruits, nuts, sweet dark malts, and chocolate cake. Flavour is less full, with toasted nuts, muted dried fruits, roasted dark malts and some feint molasses. Quite easy to drink, but also a rather muting flavour profile - but maybe my taste buds have been scorched off after so many big beers. Solid, but unmemorable.

Draught at Rattle N Hum - shared with Mette. Roasted. Nutty. Light burned malts. High malty. Light hoppy. Light coffee. Citrus. Light sourish. Light off notes. bhensonb (15094) - Woodland, California, USA - MAR 1, 2007
Malty aroma typical of an American brown ale. Clear brownish amber color with reddish hilites. A little white head that laces a mite. Has a smooth malty taste, again it’s a brown ale. Mouthfeel is medium, and creamier than most brown ales. There is a hint of some sort of spiciness, and there is a little hop at the end. Overall it’s a brown ale.
