12oz....labeled 1pnt6ozs? Deep mahogany w/ very little head. Only faint hints of sweet malts and subtle booze. Very malty. Age really mellowed the 8 hops. The linger on the palate was the kicker here. Comlex twists of bready, yeasty, malty, booziness. Nice start to this vertical tasting.
Visual: (cellared for 4 years). Pours deep dark brown with a smallish dissipating head, ringed retetion w/ hazy layer, steady streams along the perimeter, suspended sediment.
Nose: thick liquid barley malts and other grains. (lvl-4)-pungency
Attack: thick viscosity, flat CO2
Mid-palate: dry roast, background coffee sour, (lvl-4-sweetness), molasses, brown sugar, thick liquid caramel barley malt
Finish: residual caramel malty sweet, roasted barley and vanilla exhale.
Summary: It drinks something like a sweeter dry Irish stout with a touch more coffee sourness and more complex roasted notes. Solid, but wished for more creaminess as it drank quite flat. gramity (1684) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 27, 2015
Pours with a dark brown body topped by a thin head with some lacing. It’s slighty sweet and malty with a toasted nut note, some alcohol esters and note of caramel with a bitter finish. Full bodied, warming and full of carbonation. nuplastikk (6512) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - APR 26, 2013
Tap at Dexters. Deep brown-red stained glass body, hints of light shining through the corners. Massive beige head that is in no rush to settle. Sweet raisin-prune aroma, as hint of cocoa. Smooth body, almost watery, not much hop character. Smooth and easy on the palate, quite enjoyable. Kind of like a Dubbel meets the body of an English Mild. Nuttiness, nutmeg. Comes together well, nice beer. sjohnny (686) - - JAN 20, 2013

The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is full of black strap molasses, brown sugar and roasted malt. The flavor follows suit, with the roasted malt complimented nicely by the sweetness from the brown sugar and molasses. The alcohol is fairly well hidden. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Sampled at the Irish Hanukkah Tasting. Sampled in line with the other ones from the vertical collection box. Clear dark brown pour with good ring of tan head and ruby highlights. "hmmm. No sir, I don’t like it"
It’s not terrible. Pours deep brown with average tan cap. Retains alright. Smells of muted molasses/licorice and dark fruit. Taste of some chocolate, dark fruit, bit of coffee. This is very much a miss. Just seems so weak/thin than what I was expecting.
