Sweet aroma with nice caramel and bread smells and hint of fruitiness. In the taste, however, these are reversed and the fig and other fruit flavors are overpowering. A nice effort, but I just found the fig flavor to be too strong to allow the other flavors to really show through. redlight (2318) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAY 1, 2008
Dark candied fruits on the nose, dried figs, dates, caramelly in the aroma. Pours a dark amber almost brown with a thin off-white head. Surprisingly hoppy in the flavor, with definite fig flavor, caramel malts with hints of molasses, and an almost rum like quality, with spicy hops with hints of citrus flavors. Really good! nick76 (4399) - Tampa, Florida, USA - APR 30, 2008
UPDATED: MAR 3, 2011 The aroma is fruity with yeast, fig, caramel, toffee, malt, and citrus hops. The appearance is brown with a decent head. The flavor is like the aroma and bitter-sweet. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s quite good. Palidor19 (3190) - Brandon, Florida, USA - APR 30, 2008
A nice beer with flavors of malts and a slight tinge of fruit. it has a nice overall balance of malts and hops. it works on many levels. Suttree (6466) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - APR 28, 2008
Brown, with a touch of red. Small ring of foam. Aroma is jam on toast - kind of a mix of fruity and bready. Flavor is similiar. Fruity notes - fig, I guess. Pretty tasty, actually. Sampled at Raleigh WBF.

The nose is caramel sweet with a little fruit. Flavors of heavy bread malt opening that are followed by a nicely hoped bitterness than finishes with raisin and fig sweetness. Overall, this solid strong ale is worth a go-round.

Bottle. Pours a dark reddish-copper color with an ephemeral loose light tan head. Mild fruit punchy aroma, some vague malt characters below. Sweet right away on the taste, a slight malty cast with a light sourish finish. The fruit character was too much like someone squeezed a juice box into a finished beer for me. deadington (9) - USA - APR 24, 2008 does not count
this beer smells really good. fruity - plums, cherries, figs. appearance is great too. nice dark color. the taste is weaker than i anticipated. sorry.... gotta go. beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - APR 22, 2008
Pours dark cherry red with a small off-white head. Big sweet caramel cherry nose, figs, and cola. Flavor is similar, big sweetness up front, hops in the finish to balance. Coats the palate with a drawn out plum and fig flavor. Finish is a bit spicy that gives it a light dubbel quality, add some Belgian yeast esters and it would make an interesting dubbel/quad. tyler_mn (1475) - SLP, Minnesota, USA - APR 21, 2008
22oz bottle. Toasted bready malt and some astringent bitter hops initially greet the nose. Digging deeper, there are notes of vanilla, hay, dried grass and the smallest hint of tart fruit concentrate. Pours an attractive rich amber with bold mahogany accents. Bitter hops assault the tongue first. Bread crust malt, more drying hops, cola, alcohol and bitter pomegranate skin. Medium bodied. A lasting dry and tart fruit skin finish. Like most of their beers... unique.
