Bottle: Poured a brown red with a thin off white to tan head. Aroma is dark fruit, yeast and a little soapy. Taste is dark fruit figs and dates, soft malts, and tingle to the tongue in the finish. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - AUG 22, 2013
Bottle:   Deep copper, rusty hues, thin sudsy light beige head, little lacing.   Whole wheat breadiness, slight dark pitted fruit, almost a immature or sour aspect.   Not sweet on the nose.   Strong breadiness, biscuit, honeycomb on the tongue, with softer notes of dark pitted fruit.   Very honeycomb cereal like.   Not all that chewy, moderate body and mouthfeel but nearing the lighter side for a Dubbel.   Doesn’t have that mustiness I associate with the style.   Its also not as sweet as others either.   Very American like, which I expected.   Its decent, middle of the road kind of Dubbel. Bomber. Poured clear garnet with a creamy, well-retained beige head. The aroma picked up sweet raisins, dates, figs, and molasses with spicy, fruity accents.. fresh vanilla beans rounded it out.. quite sweet overall. The flavor found tart darker fruit skins and peppery yeast on the tip of the tongue, with warm dates, molasses, and vanilla following.. toasted leafy notes joined grainy, but complementary herbal bitterness around.. finished with lots more sweetness and peppery belly warmth.. tasty stuff! Medium-plus bodied with moderate-plus carbonation.. well-balanced, but again just a hair too sweet.

Tap. Coppery brown with small head. Sweet with some raisin and fig. Strange, but not unpleasant spicing.

22oz bottle poured into a Tulip at 42°. Color is a dark ruby with good carbonation and a small tight tan head. Aroma is sweet and fruity. It has a bold medium body with a smooth mouth feel. Flavor is deep and rich with dried fruits and brown sugar, then a bit of Belgian yeast on the end. In the after taste a mild bitterness shows giving a nice balance to the sweetness. Overall its a good brew, a very well done blend of a Dubbel and a Doppelbock. Blairgus (4613) - California, USA - AUG 2, 2013
2 aug 2013, bottle. Amber, clear, no bubbles. Nose is sweet, sugary figgy/raisins. Thin/med body and moderately fizzy. Caramel malt, slight malt bite, sweet figgy fruit. Meh.

Sour dark fruit funk nose. Lots of dark fruit on palate with some sweet malts. Sour finish that carries on long. Worth a try

My least favorite in the series so far. Very good though. A still beer. Smells delicious like all the others with big big figs and dates! Man I love that. Burnt caramel. A rich beer. Has a fruit skin bitterness. Boozy.
