Was served at my local grocery store. Pours a darkish wooded brown with a some foam rising atop. Smells and tastes of sodden caramel sauce, rust, spent yeast and plastic. Not going to say "meh"... but it so totally was!

From old tasting notes. Clear reddish brown color with a big foamy tan head. Molasses-like roasted malt aroma. Sweet roasted malt flavor with a smooth malty finish. Pleasant semi-sweet aftertaste. Nicely balanced and flavorful.

Ok then, Iíll rate this one and mostly all of the 20 some beers I havenít rated are coming next. This stuff tastes like caramel syrup water, smells the same. Itís balance is all out of whack. Itís not as bad as a few beers that Iíve rated lower, but I canít understand most beer drinkerís taste. I guess thatís a good thing. This may get dumped where the Colt 45 went!

I enjoyed this beer. I love Heineken and I enjoy stouts so it was easy for me to decide to try it. I found it pretty good, but not an "OMG" moment ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark brown with a small off white head. Fairly thin body with a slight aroma of sweet malts. Pretty ordinary and not very remarkable. Not much flavor at all. Just a hint of some roasted sweet malts in the taste.

one of my favorite everyday beers. has a great "barley berry" or "dark fruit of the grain" flavor. Leaves your palate with a good grape-ish flavor that I find more attractive than most of the other International pasteurized dark lagers now available from Germany. Since its pasteurized it travels well in the summer for distribution in the USA. Code date is 5 for 2015 and the day of the year follows 032 being Feb 1st, etc. 2-4 months after brew date is acceptable. Einbecker Schwarz is one of the few pasteurized german beers and is maybe better overall but doesnít match the palate that Heineken Dark leaves. A underrated/hidden masterpiece for International pasteurized lager.

Brown color ; medium-sized off-white head . Nice aroma of roasted malt , bread and caramel. Taste is weaker and too sweet . Not bad at all.

ozzy70 (1133) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - AUG 28, 2015
Bottle. Pours dark brown, with slowly diminishing white head. Aroma of light coffee. Taste, coffee and malts, sweet.

dbhenry (139) - El Paso, Texas, USA - MAY 23, 2015
Bland malt taste with insufficient hops. Good color. Small head. It tastes somewhat watery. A mass produced beer with little attention to detail.

Jabah (474) - Winter Park, Florida, USA - APR 10, 2015
I prefer this over the regular Heineken lager, but I think it is mainly because I prefer dark beers. The flavor is more syrupy of course: caramely, malty, maybe a little bit more hops to offset the sweets. Pours an copper-medium brown color. Not heavy though like a lot of other dark beers. They donít offer it at a lot of places, especially with the flood of micro-brews flooding the market lately, but if they ever say "Heineken", ask if they have Heineken Dark if you havenít tried it yet. Worth the try for sure if you like the regular Heiny Lager.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. This is a much better beer than their "green meenie". it is very flavorful and is lightly carbonated. Not often seen in the states but worth a try.
