Pours a light tan head that fades quickly leaving no lace. Clear deep amber color. Medium bodied and very light carbonation. Sweet malty nose. Starts sweet finish is like a dry root beer. Better than their lager.

500 ml can bought at 7-Eleven on Shantung Street, Mong Kok.
Clear dark amber red colour; Three finger head with crumpety light beige foam which last for 3 minutes; Good sticky lacing with fizzy carbonation; Sweet aroma of Amber malt, with notable roastyness, strong caramel, sticky toffee, red fruits, cream, floral, icing sugar, bread and light grass; Close to medium sweet taste of Amber malt, with fairly strong roastyness, metallic, tartness, caramel, light toffee, red fruits, floral, fair molasses, faint spices, bread, lemon, mid to light bitter hops and grass; Mid to light body. Quite watery and slick palate; Mouth feel is good Amber maltyness in a thinned but slick background. Good caramel, toffee and red with strong wheaty tartness. Flowery with moderate molasses, light bready with lemon to round. Quite okay!... Hoppiness is floral and light grass in nose. Light spice, floral, lemon and grass in taste; Bitterness is fair for an abrupt, mid to low astringent sweet-bitter caramel malty finish; Slightly dry after taste. Sweet toffee fruity and slightly bitter to mouth.
Comments: This is a macro Amber, but a competent one - Roasty amber malt with strong caramel and red fruits, restrained sweetness with moderate lemony hops. Only the body is a wee bit watery, otherwise it is agreeable and drinkable for couch potatoes!
Can from supermarket in Seoul. Light dark color, beige head. Bittter taste with nuts, malts, toast, cardboard and a bit chocolate. Bitter finish with nuts, malts, cardboard, toast and a bit of dark fruits. Pretty awful stuff. camay1997 (75) - patton, California, USA - AUG 6, 2017
UPDATED: AUG 6, 2017 Thick tan head on top of a dark brown body. The smell is subtle or I have a cold. Hints of coffee that's about it. It falters on the palette towards the end but the flavors are good and distinct. This is one of my favorite beer styles and this beer is a great reason why. yy0pp (1632) - - JUL 7, 2017
Can. Clear deep brown color almost without head. Aroma - Malt, caramel, metal. Taste - Bittersweet, mushrooms, dirt, malt. Strange. gripweed57 (2862) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - MAY 3, 2017
From old tasting notes. Clear reddish brown color with a big foamy tan head. Molasses-like roasted malt aroma. Sweet roasted malt flavor with a smooth malty finish. Pleasant semi-sweet aftertaste. Nicely balanced and flavorful.

Ok then, I’ll rate this one and mostly all of the 20 some beers I haven’t rated are coming next. This stuff tastes like caramel syrup water, smells the same. It’s balance is all out of whack. It’s not as bad as a few beers that I’ve rated lower, but I can’t understand most beer drinker’s taste. I guess that’s a good thing. This may get dumped where the Colt 45 went! I enjoyed this beer. I love Heineken and I enjoy stouts so it was easy for me to decide to try it. I found it pretty good, but not an "OMG" moment

Pours a dark brown with a small off white head. Fairly thin body with a slight aroma of sweet malts. Pretty ordinary and not very remarkable. Not much flavor at all. Just a hint of some roasted sweet malts in the taste. TexasTwisted (2) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JAN 8, 2016 does not count
one of my favorite everyday beers. has a great "barley berry" or "dark fruit of the grain" flavor. Leaves your palate with a good grape-ish flavor that I find more attractive than most of the other International pasteurized dark lagers now available from Germany. Since its pasteurized it travels well in the summer for distribution in the USA. Code date is 5 for 2015 and the day of the year follows 032 being Feb 1st, etc. 2-4 months after brew date is acceptable. Einbecker Schwarz is one of the few pasteurized german beers and is maybe better overall but doesn’t match the palate that Heineken Dark leaves. A underrated/hidden masterpiece for International pasteurized lager. sinfull (1798) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - SEP 9, 2015
Brown color ; medium-sized off-white head . Nice aroma of roasted malt , bread and caramel. Taste is weaker and too sweet . Not bad at all.
