Yuk Why would people drink something like this? Their commercial description: 100% Barley malt, choice hops and pure water give this brew unsurpassed clarity.... water is clear too and doesn't give you a hangover. Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 12, 2003
UPDATED: OCT 25, 2003 Pale lager, very limpid. I didn't notice any skunk aroma nor taste. Hidden aroma of malt and cereals. Refreshing taste of cereals and ... water:)
An honest bitterness puts it more into the pilsner category for me. It's very simplistic, but remains a beer I'd appreciate immensely after a beach volleyball game. Must be drunk cold, goes down well, calm the thirst (what else can you ask). Note: It seemed to me the can version showed a bigger hops presence LINKBREW (101) - Santee, California, USA - JUL 12, 2003
Probably the beer I've drank more than any other, thanks to the old college days. On draught in Haarlem. Clean aroma, some malt and hop. Classic spicy hoppiness in finish. Usually rated very low, but is actually a very nice lager. Come on folks! Slick (1969) - Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA - JUL 12, 2003
Nothing special here I can't believe i've never rated this brew i drank enough of it in my younger years trying to look cool.I'm feeling much better now,and this is not a cool brew bad skunky taste mild hops mild hop after taste just a run of the mill brew with little to offer. The usual utter garbage euro lager people drink because they figure they are onto something you simply can't understand. Filth of the highest order.

Typical light golden color with a small white head. The aroma was almost non-existent...some slight malty sweetness. The flavor wasn't all that bad...some decent malty sweetness...no skunk, but some not-so-good hops bitterness. Watery, thin feel with too much carbonation. Can. Skunky smell and sour skunky taste. Thin watery body. Nasty. I can't think of s single good thing to say about this beer. Shagnasty (130) - Rochester, New York, USA - JUL 10, 2003
Green bottle is mistake number one, followed by extreme carbonation which led to an interesting and disappointing experience. It was OK, it was expensive, and it left me underwhelmed. I do not know why people spend the money on this product, perhaps it is a signal beer that tells the world that the drinker has little to no clue about beer. Skunky finish, and over carbonation make Heineken very pedestrian and mediocre. KOTBA (17) - GERMANY - JUL 5, 2003
Incredible that a so bad tasting beer can be so popular and well known over the world! bowen008 (134) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 2, 2003
Status symbol. Hey look at me I drink Heineken. Way too Banana Republic for me.
Did they actually put skunk excretion in the bottle?
