2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Half-litre flip-top: best before May 2013, poured into a ’Gaffel Kolsch’ glass three times @ home on 16 Nov 2012.
Typical Kolsch look: clean, clear and golden, large white head which tries to stay around on each pour (not your typical Kolsch really then, because the head usually buggers off before I’ve even seen it!).
The nose and taste are semi-sweet biscuity malty with hints of cereal and hops. No great flavours here, but when do you get those in a Kolsch? I don’t dislike the style: there is nothing to dislike, I just wish the delicate flavours would grow some balls one day and surprise me!
This is just above your average Koln brew in my eyes, more for it’s head than flavours to be honest.
Aroma: herbs and malty.
Appearance: golden color and white head.
Taste: medium herbal bitterness, malty, floral, honey notes, semi-dry.
Palate: low body and medium carbonation.
Overall: really nice koelsch, rather clear profile. japppp (163) - FINLAND - SEP 13, 2017
UPDATED: SEP 13, 2017 50cl bottle, thanks to Erzengel ESSS17. Clear golden color with off-white head. Aroma has hay and hint of citrus. Taste is well balanced and light with lingering bitterness. Not spectacular, but still nice and refreshing. SVD (2071) - NETHERLANDS - AUG 4, 2017

-medium bitterniss for the style
If i had this in a blind tasting id probably think im drinking a Hefeweizen.
Overall its too thin and too acidic for me, but its certainly unique among Kölsch Beers.

Sampled from tap at the brewpub. Clear, golden yellow with a white head. Sweetish, quite grassy, slightly floral and a little fruity aroma of straw, grains and some citrus. Sweetish, quite grassy, slightly floral and a bit fruity taste of straw, grains and hints of citrus, followed by a short, moderately bitter, quite grassy and dry finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice! kermis (14487) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - MAY 26, 2017
Draft at the Brauhaus. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of light fruity hops, grain and malt. Flavour is above light sweet and bitter. Light bodied with soft carbonation. kapusil (1476) - Budapest, HUNGARY - APR 28, 2017
On tap at the brewpub. Clear golden body with a white head. Aroma of bread, apples and pears. Taste of bread, grains, apples, pears, and floral hops. Fruitier than the average kölsch, but because of that it has more character too. I liked this the most from all the kölsch beers I tasted in Köln. On tap at Hellers Brauhaus. Clear pale nice white foamy head. More fruit, more hops than the Wiess. I like it and this is what I expect when I think of what a good Kolsch tastes like. Martinus (4692) - Baarle-Nassau, NETHERLANDS - DEC 1, 2016
Clear golden colour, white head. Malty aroma, light onion, light fusels. Malty flavour, light bitterness. Malty finish.
