2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: APR 3, 2014 Sampled on draft at D’s Monroeville this beer poured a black color with a trace tan head that faded instantly and left no lacing. The aroma was roasty wood and Bakers chocolate. The flavor was dry, woody and roasty with notes of Bakers chocolate and coffee. Long dry finish of wood, roasty malts and coffee. Medium body but undercarbonated. Eh.
UPDATED: JAN 16, 2015 Strong coffee and chocolate flavors. Had at wicked googly in ligonier. A little boozy N3lson1 (1005) - Long Valley, New Jersey, USA - JAN 10, 2014
Dark brown with a beigh head. A good solid porter but had an odd sour aftertaste, not like lemon or anything but like something went bad. Nate (4279) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 11, 2013
From growler, courtesy of Joe N at homebrew club meeting. Really roasty aroma, coffee, chocolate, soy tang, and molasses. Nice nose. Dark black opaque with thin tan frothy head. Medium heavy body with medium carbonation. Sweet stout start and maintains throughout with molasses, coffee, and chocolate. Big roasted malt flavor, roasted barley, with mild tang and light coffee bitter finish. Nice stout. Beerman6686 (6607) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 29, 2013
This one poured a darker brown with a beige head. Aroma was chocolate, good bit of smoke, roast, and sour cherry, Flavor was roasted and smoke upfront followed by a mildly sour swallow. Probably lightly infected but still somewhat enjoyable. hopdog (12833) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 13, 2013
On tap at the Blue Dog in Chalfont. Poured a dark brown, almost black color with a small sized off white head. Roasty, chocolate, caramel, and coffee. Had a slight off tasting sourness that didn’t seem to belong.

Draught at Bite and Brews. Poured black no head. Aroma of bitter choco. Sour bitter malt taste not very pleasant. Drake (14045) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 2, 2013
Draft at Bocktown Robinson. Pours a dark brown color with a head that disappeared quickly and completely. The aroma is chocolate, nuts, earth, coffee, mild hops. The taste is rich roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, mild hops. Medium bodied. cheap (5966) - Beaver Valley, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 23, 2013
First let me say that I am not a fan of Helltown beers, they are so over the top at times. However, this one was much better than expected. On tap at the Bocktown. Pretty dark, but not as dark as most stouts. No head. Has a very mild and attractive roasty stout aroma. When I saw the name of this I wsa expecting a impy stout. Not sure what is so perverse about this, its actually pretty good. Has manners, very friendly. Well behaved and friendly fer sure. Pleasant and rather fun. Does have some bitterness but never appraoches the bitterness you would expect for a 6% beer, hides its alky well. I kind of like this stuff. There was a layer of sediment on the bottom of my glass. Some mild sizzle in there. Yes, better than I thought it would be and the same on the finish. cpetrone84 (1810) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 10, 2012
pour is black with dark tan head, very tight creamy head. Nose is light, roasted coffee, hint of malt sweetness, and faint citrus hop. Taste is more roasted and well made coffee, a touch nutty, almost no bitterness with a hint of cream and faint citrusy hop. Body isn’t overly thick or heavy, very creamy and smooth, extremely drinkable and well made.
